New Challenge: Movin' On Up

Should bluffing, or semi-bluffing if you want, change the amount of a c-bet to reduce the risk, or should it be just as hard as if I actually did have something?feral_cow_icon.gifConverting hands till the cows come homePokerStars No-Limit Hold'em $0.01/$0.02 - 6 playersButton: $1.87 SB: $1.01 BB: $1.60 (Hero)UTG: $2.61 UTG+1: $3.79 CO: $3.46 Preflop: ($0.03) Hero is BB with Kh.gifAs.gif (6 players)UTG calls $0.02, UTG+1 calls $0.02, CO raises to $0.08, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.20, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls $0.18, CO foldsFlop: ($0.51) 3d.gif8d.gif8c.gif (2 players)Hero bets $0.18.
I raise more preflop and i don't increase the pot size with bets that are gonna get called by ATC 95% of the time when i hold A high. It's a good spot to c-bet but it's gotta be at least $0.30, likely more.
God, just went all in with pocket aces and freaking lost to trip 6. I went .12 raise preflop and he still stuck it. I wanna make out with low stakes so much.

I remember when this thread was all about how bad KJ was at 3betting

He's probably not flatting KJ's raise otf if he had a2. Besides, A2 is such a small portion of his range here, we are never ever ever ever ever ever ever folding the turn. People are stupid, they do

The thing is you won't become a better player at 2nl. Chances are you'll crush those games because they're so soft. You won't be learning anything new. If you had bad habits and leaks, which you do because all of us do, then you'll maintain those leaks as you move up in limits. It's also very boring to go start from absolute rock bottom. With $100 it'll take you a long time (in terms of volume) to move up properly. You'll flame out.If you're able to play $200nl live, then your poker bankroll should be able to handle a $400 deposit (unless you're just playing it sparingly because casinos don't offer anything lower, and you have no other options), and you should start in 10nl. imo
Ok, so here's what I did, I had deposited 100 bucks earlier like I said, and I "sort of" took your advice. My plan was to try to run it up as quick as possible, and if i went broke, reload 400 dollars. So, the first thing I did was sit down at 1/2 with 100, and luckily ran that up quickly to about 450.Now, I can safely play .05/.10 which is a good level for me to be at, I think. I plan on staying at that level till I reach 800 or so.

So I totally ignored bankroll management and decided to play the lottery. Now I plan to sort of grind 10NL until I see normal downswing variance, get frustrated, swear online poker is rigged, and sit down at 2/4 shortstacked and piss away my bankroll

I have to say that I've never practiced low-stakes bankroll management anywhere near as conservative as I keep hearing. 5 buy-ins or so with a willingness to move down has worked OK for me.

Another LOLive hand: .1/.25 6 handed, 200bb effective (I have him covered)Hero is UTG with T :ts T :heart:Hero raises to $1, 1 fold, co calls, 2 folds, bb callsFlop ($3.10): 9 :club: 4 :4h 4 :spade:bb checks, Hero bets $2.25, co raises to $8, bb folds, Hero???co plays a fairly wide range of hands in position. He flopped two pair with 32 and boated the river vs QQ 3-4 orbits prior. After tanking for 2 minutes he asked if I had 72 and sat back looking uninterested. I had cut out a raise to $19.75 at that point. Sexy $29 turn shoves ftw...Thoughts?His value range imo is like A4, 54, 34 and 99, but sometimes ppl do weird things on paired boards bc they think you have AK...
Yo, someone give me something about this hand.

A good feeling: Getting pocket aces with everyone folding.
That most happens like 6 times a day, easily
Yo, someone give me something about this hand.
I hate those spots.

I think this is a pretty straight forward raise, with intention of getting it in. Do you think he would raise a 4 here? Many (and I think him) would just call with a 4.Think of the alternative: if you call, what will you do on the turn? If a K hits, do you b/f? I think if you have a really good read on this guy, you could probably just call here, putting him on J9, 98, A9, etc.Do you think this guy is capable of calling off his stack with A9 or Q9 on this board? He could also have an underpair, but I think it's less likely because he's raising you in position.

I had no intention to call. I thought I'd raise/call it off or raise and shove the turn.I also thought about folding

Just to add, I think by calling oop we are gonna get crushed. So many terrible cards on the turn. Also, if he has A9 or 98 or whatev, he won't put any more money in unimproved.

Against certain people I like calling more then the other options. It keeps their bluff range wide and makes us look weak. If we think they have a wide bluff range on this flop, then the overcards on the turn don't become scare cards but favourable, since he will continue to bet with his bluffs more often the his value hands. Like if the turn comes an K, if he raised A9 , and doesnt bet this turn, then his value range is hands containing over cards he bluff raised with and 4's. I don't like raise/calling it off since you beat nothing except overplayed A9 and he will have alot of 4's in his range since he flats raises with 23 previously. I would rate the actions, Fold > call >>> raise.

No real reads on villain despite playing 300 hands with him.He was 24/7 and has folded to 8/11 3 bets.I have to assume his range from UTG is fairly strong, but with a high fold to 3 bet and some donk who flatted, a 3 bet seemed right especially w/AK.The real question is the flop play. Is it okay to c-bet this flop, or does it hit his range pretty hard.Stars[/url] Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comSB ($10.35)Hero (BB) ($5.87)UTG ($5.22)MP ($13.49)Button ($4.26)Preflop: Hero is BB with A :club:, K :tsUTG bets $0.15, MP calls $0.15, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.55, UTG calls $0.40, 1 foldFlop: ($1.27) 7 :4h, Q :5c, 9 :3h(2 players)Hero bets $0.75

Probably shouldn't have even bet. This guy was really aggressive, almost raising hard every chance he got.I've noticed that playing the blinds, I've lost more money than the money I've made with the other positions. feral_cow_icon.gifMilked from the teat of a feral cowPokerStars No-Limit Hold'em $0.01/$0.02 - 9 playersBB: $2.12 (Hero)UTG: $2.18 UTG+1: $2.94 MP: $0.94 MP2: $2.99 HJ: $0.78 CO: $5.49 Button: $2.60 SB: $3.06 Preflop: ($0.03) Hero is BB with 7d.gifKc.gif (9 players)7 folds, SB calls $0.01, Hero checksFlop: ($0.04) 2d.gif3h.gifKs.gif (2 players)SB bets $0.02, Hero raises to $0.06, SB raises to $0.20, Hero ?
