trystero 0
I just take the nice odds and call the flop. It's not like I fault a raise, but in position I'd rather do that, because we can control the pot size more effectively since he'll check to us a lot, and of course we never mind getting it in on this board so if he does 3-bet we just jammo. Your raise on the flop is small enough that you can expect him to call with most of his range. When you check/call the turn, the gig is up: you're on a draw. If you're going to use the pair as part of the justification for raising the flop for value, then we can't check/fold the river.
jmbreslin 0
Hell, I'm getting slaughtered tonight.Stacked off on turn with a set, villain has a gutter+FD and rivers the straight.Lost 2/3 of stack w/ KK overpair to a villain who called my raise w/ 96o, called my pot CB with a pair of 9's, and turned 2P.Lost another 1/3 stack when I got shortie AIPF w/ KK against his AQ and he flopped an Ace.Sorry, just venting. Every time it seems like I'm starting to make progress in my results, I have a session like this that erases most of my progress. Maybe I'm just destined to be Even Steven. jmbreslin 0
As for the hand I posted, I struggle with my judgment regarding when have enough equity that I should try to get it in on the flop or turn (and how) and when I shouldn't. I think I was prepared to get it in on the flop but when he flat called I figured I might be able to get a free card OOP by checking the turn. Then he gave me nice odds to call with his bet, so I just decided to call with all my outs (now any club plus Jacks).Would it be nuts to push the turn with my increased equity? I'm assuming villain is on a decent Ace, though a set of 4's is certainly possible.

Against ace-rag you're in good shape, almost 40% equity, but against broadway aces, sets, and two pairs (imo AJ is more likely than like A6) you're not quite 30%. Once you check the turn it's fine I think to just call his bet and c/f UI on the river.
jmbreslin 0
At least my night finished on a positive note with 3 near double-throughs. Crazy game, this poker. I'm probably just not used to the swinginess since I typically play low volume and Rush basically crams several sessions into a single one.

I think you need to keep betting on the turn to continue representing a hand as good as TPTK or better. A line that gets the money all in earlier to eliminates his positional advantage. I'm probably just not used to the swinginess since I typically play low volume and Rush basically crams several sessions into a single one.Even against the donks of 10nl, poker remains swingy. You can't get around it. The best you can do is have a forward-thinking mindset, and that means doing your best to not worry about results (like, don't fuss over whether you're up or down in a particular session; get used to just logging volume for the sake of logging volume and doing your best to play well). Kind of hard to do at this limit I know because usually you're grinding to build a roll and to move on. It's not like you can comfort yourself with the thought that you'll be making good money once the runbad goes away.

If you're going to use the pair as part of the justification for raising the flop for value, then we can't check/fold the river. Can't the pair simply be considered as additional outs and not as a pair by itself? I mean, we know we are likely behind with a pair, but a king or a queen definitely add to our hand, so the outs increase the value of our hand greatly.

droberts 3
ya i didnt really know that camelrooter was that crazy.. i was just valuebetting half pot for a midpair 55-99.. or a random J that made it to the turn.on the KJ hand i agree that i should have led the turn again.. when i seen the turn i kinda froze cuz i was like oh, i binked da nutz.. and checked... meh!the QQ hand i wasnt too happy with his minraise but i wasnt folding at that point.. if we were both deeper i most likely would have let it go.
