How long has it been? Are you sure you're just not "getting the cards"? Why don't you post some hands?
okay this is my latest back-breaker..i raised with AA on early position and got called by a relatively tight player on late.flop goes 2-A-9 rainbow. so i bet the blind in hopes to try and trap the guy. he raises and i got him on a pair of nines or at most, a two pair, at that point. turn is a 9 and i made my full house. since i had him with a nine, my full house beats his possible trips, so i bet big knowing he'd call. and he did.river is a 6. i go all-in at that point. he calls as fast as humanly possible.i turn my aces a bit happily and then...he turns over two nines to make four of a kind.im talking about that kind of luck.of course it hasnt been all like that..i dont know if im playing obsessively tight lately or what...i need a change of pace of some sort.i need help here. some therapy of some sort lol..

That example is just a bad beat. There is no way anyone can put anybody on quads with maximum a pair on the board. You shouldnt even think about whether you did something wrong in that hand. Generally to play good poker, you need to be in a state of mind where you think it is fun, rewarding and exciting. When I run into bad beats I know the best thing to do is stop playing until I feel confident again and in the mood for playing. I know this is something easier said than done, but it is definately the best way to make the black cloud go away. Playing more and more to catch up, is armageddon...

I feel for you. The last month has been horrendous for me. I just can't get anything going. I had to use my BR for my bills last month so I had to start back at square one with my $100. And its been downhill ever since I re-deposited. I'm getting killed in my cash games and tournaments. Last month I made $1000 and this month I can't do anything. I haven't changed my style of play it just seems that this month is the month when everyone drills their 2-outer against me. Between yesterday and today I have had AA preflop 8 times. It held up once. Lost to 3-4s, 10-8o, KK, 9-3o, etc etc. I don't ever limp and there is always a large pre-flop raise or all-in preflop but these people keep drilling their cards. not to mention besides those AA my streak of cards has been 10-4 9-4 5-2 7-3 etc etc. It hasn't even been just online either. My live games have been crap too. My good hands get busted and my other hands suck. I feel for you. But my advice is to just stop for a while and come back. I just need to take my own advice.

We have all been through these slumps. What I have found out that helps is read your favroite poker book again, this was said already, evaluate where you need the wok on your game at and focus on making a good come back. Also take some time off from the game, I know this sounds hard but you will come back to the table fresh and you will see things the way that you saw them when you were on your streak.

I took a 20% hit to my bankroll in one session last night. AA cracked by 23, QQ with T high board flops a straight, KK hits AA, 88 with 38J board hits JJ, AK with AK5 hits 55, ATs flops flush but busted by full house on river. These are all in 1 session last night! Its poker, it sucks, but its to be expected. Last night I felt like I didnt even know how to play this game, it was very frustrating. Chin up and Move on.

Yup cant win em all in the end its still gambling, your just not getting your share of the Luck. It happens take some time off or go back to playing lower limits and start crushing them to get yourself back in form to kick arse at the higher limits
