nice write up ... http://blogs.trb.com/entertainment/news/ga...gest_poker.html20-year-old makes biggest poker score in Florida history at Hard RockBy Nick Sortal November 23, 2010 06:17 AMA South Floridian too young to gamble in some states walked away with the biggest poker payout in Florida history Monday night.Harrison Gimbel, 20, of Jupiter won the World Poker Tour/Fall Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He earned $330,000.It's the second big win for Gimbel, a graduate of the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach. In January, he won $2.2 million in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Florida and Caribbean laws allow for those 18 and older to play poker. In Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the minimum age is 21."And I won't get to play in the World Series of Poker even next year," said Gimbel. That's because he turns 21 on Oct. 3, 2011. The World Series is played May through July. The poker tournament, which lasted three days, had the highest buy-in in Florida history, at $5,000. The World Poker Tour lined up the "regional," non-televised event at the Hard Rock shortly after the state allowed for uncapped poker. (The Seminoles aren't governed by the state, but went along with the betting limits that were in place until July 1 this year.)About 300 players from around the country gathered at the Hard Rock, although the final four were all regulars: "Boston Tony" Anthony Ruberto, who plays here but lives part-time in Massachusetts (he earned $275,242); Fred Goldberg of Plantation ($144,733) and noted on-line player Raj Vohra of Lake Worth ($92,103).FULL ATRICLE AT ABOVE LINK

So how many major tourneys can he win before he's able to play in his first WSOP in 2012
Call it a hunch, but for some reason I'm really feeling Robert Varkonyi is going to come out of nowhere and bink it in 2002.

As I did some stalking/envying today I noticed on CP for the POY that the WPT $5k that gib just won didn't award any POY points. I kinda did some looking around and couldn't figure out what makes a donkament worthy of being in their POY deal. Does anyone know how their system works?

Are you talking about the WPT POY points ?I guess the WPT doesn't include their new Regional or National Series events in their WPT POY.http://www.worldpokertour.com/Shared/Tourn...nal_Events.aspx

Yeah, Cardplayer didn't recognize the tourney. I mean every $300 tournament dwyte Pilgrim wins he gets points for and a $5k gets no POY points, strange
