Bigd's Top 20 Movies Of The Decade

No County For Old Men is easily the best movie and the most re-watchable movie of the decade. I'm surprised it's not hitting the number one spot of most lists. Another surprise of this thread is Sin City not getting even an honorable mention.

Ok, I can accept someone thinking that NCFOM (yeah, I just did that) is the best movie of the decade. But:1. It is not "easily" the best. It's not even close to being "easily" the best. It's slightly crazy to use "easily" in that sentence, no matter how much you love that movie. That's why it's not at the number one spot of most lists. I'd say that even if I didn't think that NCFOM wasn't even the best movie to come out in 2007, forget the entire decade. 2. Even if you (incorrectly) claim that it's "easily the best movie" of the decade, it's full out insanity to say that it's the most re-watchable move of the decade. It's WAY too slow/intense to be given that title. It's...I don't even know what to say to you...it's just so obviously not a movie that belongs in that category.I don't know why NCFOM love pisses me off so much.

1. Take it Easy you, it's my oh-pinion. As you can see, I didn't write out an absurd list with movies like Saw2 or The House Bunny but instead made one, according to you, incorrect (haha) claim to the best movie the aughts brought to the silver screen. I haven't seen one movie on anyone's list that comes close to being as good or as re-watchable as NCFOM. This movie doesn't have one wasted second in any scene or one syllable of dialog that doesn't fit. It may very well be a perfect film. 2. It's not a claim, it's a fact! Wait, you're saying a movie can't be the best of the decade if it's slow and intense? I wonder what your criterion would include, fast paced and easy going? NCFOM is EASILY the best movie of the decade by whatever theoretical distance I choose to use. Somewhere around 22 kilometers sounds about right. I can't imagine someone not loving this film. I'd love to frustrate you more but I don't know what buttons to push. By pushing buttons I mean what combination of letters to use to say you must have bad tastes in movies or something. I don't know about the or something but you having bad tastes in movies would be pretty remarkable given your choices and opinions in other entertainment categories that I'm aware of. ramble ramble

Yeah, The Wrestler was the only screening I've gone to, where audience members walked out. (And that was before the stapler.)Regarding Love Actually--I really like it, but have to fast forward almost all the scenes with the faux Matthew Lillard. I'd love to cut that story line altogether, and make it a great movie.
There have been two movies, that I remember people walking out of ( not counting myself, I've walked out of 3.. 2 on the same day ( Some dragon movie, and wind talkers) the other movie was ( the Grinch). I think that's all I've walked out of. ANyway, the two I've noticed others walking out of were bruno and The passion.

False. Synchdoche, Ny is easily the best movie of the decade, and I don't think it's even close. I do like NCFOM though.RE: Sin City. I enjoyed it, I like the chances it took, visually, cinematically... but it didn't quite all come together. A valiant effort. Not top 20 for me but I did enjoy it highly. Another movie I liked, along the same vein, that didn't succeed as much as fail in a spectacular and interesting way was Speed Racer. I enjoyed that movie more than just about anyone I know.

is it because it fell flat for you?
probably didn't get it.
Oh, you guys!

1. I really only have an issue with "easily". That made it sound like you couldn't understand how everyone didn't agree with you (actually, you may have said exactly that), which I find ridiculous. Ridiculous to say about any movie, not just one that I find to be...well, whatever. Any movie.2. No, I didn't say (or at least didn't mean) a slow and intense movie can't be the best movie of the decade. I said that it can't be the most re-watchable movie of the decade. Well, I suppose it can, since it's a matter of opinion, but I guess I just disagree with that opinion and felt the need to say that.Nah, there's no buttons to push on this one. Like I said, I have an irrational dislike of the acclaim thrust upon NCFOM. And that doesn't even make much sense, since I readily admit that it's a very good, if not great, movie. I'M A COMPLICATED MAN.
Synchdoche, Ny is easily the best movie of the decade.
Arg.
Also, number 1 on my guilty pleasure list, and it's not even remotely close, is xXx.
You should feel guilty about that pleasure. Fine, I liked it too. Just once I want to walk into a bedroom and have a strange, beatiful woman dancing around on the bed, just waiting for me to disappoint her. I never saw xXx: State of the Union, but I'm ok with that.

Notice I'm not indignant that no one in the thread agrees with me though. I am smugly judging you all to myself, but I'm not indignant.

xXx is god. The scene where he grinds down the stairs on a metal dining platter, for no reason at all, is what pushes this to another level.

Thank you, I was hoping at least 1 other person would put Collateral. I loved this movie so much.BigD, I also liked Speed Racer. I thought the special effects were awesome. I wish there were more racing scenes in the movie though. Also, it got on my nerves when they would cut away from the race and show the announcers talking.

I remembered what I omitted from my original list (since I listed series instead of individual movies) The Harry Potter series was fantastic. I really enjoyed each movie and have not read the books.

I am right with you on Speed Racer. Somehow it was wildly enjoyable. We had a LOT of people walk out of Sicko down here when the movie started talking all nice nice about Castro and Cuba. People in Miami are dead serious about hating Castro and anything to do with the government of Cuba. We started with 40 people and ended with about 25.The only movie I ever walked out of was Life with Mikey but I am pretty tolerant of bad movies in general.

The only movie I can remember walking out of this decade was the Charlie and the Chocolate factory re-make with Johnny Depp. WTF was that shit?
That movie was hilarious!

I find it to be average to below-average, and I am greatly annoyed by the undeserving amount of praise it gets.

Along the lines of what BG is saying... it's so stupid of IMDb to list these foreign movies in their original language. The site is in ENGLISH! The movie poster says the name of the title in ENGLISH! Why is IMDb working so hard to be prickish? It's like KDawg owns the site or something.
