Fluffdog87 2
I would like to thank all of the FCP members for voting me in as Full Contact Poker Player Of The Year For 2008. I did my best in 2009 to represent the site and forum to the best of my abilities and I am proud to say I am a member of FCP! I feel I had a strong year in 2009 and matured as both a player and a person. Looking back at the thread really brought back great memories. http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...131628&st=0 A lot of strong cash game and tournament players post on FCP and many would be worthy recipients of the 2009 FCP POY Award. Voting in past years has been fairly informal and I think a formal vote would bring a lot of excitement and discussion to FCP at the end of each year along with highlighting the accomplishments and hard work of many members just as the Heisman Trophy does for college football as an example. The first stage could be a nomination of players and discussion as there has been in the other thread. Each member of FCP,(that has been a member for at least 1 year and has 50+ posts or 3+ months and has 100 posts), would get 5 nominations each for a different member. At the end of a predetermined date by FCP Bob and/or the moderators the top 5 vote-recieving nominations would move into the FCP POY FinalsThe Votes would be reset going into the Finals where the Top 5 POY candidates could be discussed more at length and the final votes be cast. I think the Heisman Trophy voting system of 3 points for your 1st place vote, 2 points for 2nd and 1 point for 3rd would work out well. At the end of a predetermined date by FCP Bob and/or the moderators the Full Contact Poker Player Of The Year would be declared!http://www.heisman.com/history/balloting.php The actual ballots include a space for electors to designate three individuals for the Heisman Trophy. The first choice on an elector's ballot receives three points in the overall voting tabulation, the second choice receives two points and the third choice receives one point. I have compiled the list of the 09' Featured Members to help refresh everybody's memories of the past year. FCP Bob 1,321
I see that you've put a lot of thought into this but the reality is that a vote or poll in the forum is not a good way to go since any forum account can vote on it. Somebody with 15 joke accounts can vote 15 times and votes can be manipulated in other ways as well. Plus a poll could end up just being a popularity contest. There is one person who has offered people $1 to vote for him at another site's player of the year voting. I obviously don't think that would happen here with the people who might be nominated.Last year Fluff was the consensus winner but this year there is going to be a much closer decision I think.Edit: Another problem with a public vote is that there is going to be a lack of public information in some cases about cash game players who might not want their results be known in public but knowledge of those results is known in private. GOCUBSGO 77
What if we selected a panel of voters. The Heisman for example is only voted on by a select few in the college football community. Say for example Bob, Gov, The Previous Year Winner (Fluff), and maybe the other voters would consist of the feature members of each month from that year. This would give us a decent sized panel. The community could help with the nominations. Say narrow it down to 5. And then the panel votes on those 5 and we have a winner. Just some ideas....

Somebody with 15 joke accounts can vote 15 times and votes can be manipulated in other ways as well. Plus a poll could end up just being a popularity contest. That's why you have voting requirements. Possibly stronger than mine posted- issue mostly solvedWe wouldn't use a poll. We would post in a thread. It's a public vote just like what we are currently doing except more precise. The key being true discussion and thought from 2 votes and a tiered voting system so players can be recognized and people can voice diverging opinions on what the player of the year means to them with 3,2,1 voting where it is not a popularity contest but a true spread out vote among members. There is one person who has offered people $1 to vote for him at another site's player of the year voting. I obviously don't think that would happen here with the people who might be nominated.I doubt that would happen and we are not a poker community cheap enough to buy votes imo.Last year Fluff was the consensus winner but this year there is going to be a much closer decision I think.Edit: Another problem with a public vote is that there is going to be a lack of public information in some cases about cash game players who might not want their results be known in public but knowledge of those results is known in private. All you can go on is what you know or assume to know..just as we are doing now. In short I think we have to trust FCP to do it the right way w/ requirements in place though. The positives far outweigh the negatives I feel. The method above is clearly a superior way to do this and will inject some intrigue and fervor to the process and is also meant to be a fun look back at the year for FCP and it's players.Trust FCP

Fluffdog87 2
It looks as though it may to late in the year to implement this I've been told but I think it would be a great option for next year. There is a similar yet easier system in the pipeline that may possibly be used this yr.
