memorial day weekend poker

Recommended Posts

Yes, I know we all love our online poker rooms, but any real player has to make it out to the B&M casinos. And all you serious underage players should be pulling a Phil Ivey as well. Memorial Day weekend will bring out the crowds and fish as they try their darndest to figure out why their two pair got counterfeited by the board.I'll be in AC Thurs-Mon staying at the Borgata with a group of friends from coast to coast and wondered if any FCPers will be out then too. I've got my poker rate for the room, my bankroll in hand and I'm rested and stocked up on Provigil to take on the long weekend.I know there is a dealer at Borgata who posts here infrequently... but can't remember who.Anyone else feel free to hijack this thread for their Memorial Day live poker plans.

I'll be at the Borgata on June 16th and 17th. Would be awesome to meet ya and play some cards if you can make it. Got 2nd row tickets to Steve Miller Band at the Borgata on the 16th too.

My Memorial Day plans: Go to the Indy 500 for the weekend to drink my balls off with some buddies. Convince my girlfriend's dad to give me a job because I just graduated and he is rich. Play poker on Monday at good ole Harrah's in East Chicago and feast on all the degenerates who have the day off and are wasting their paychecks by calling off all their chips with flush draws on the turn. I cant wait!!!P.S. If anyone is gonna be at Harrahs or Trump (East Chicago and Gary) this weekend, send me a PM or post a reply. It would be cool to play with some FCPers.

I got a poker rate of $125 for Saturday night, and $100 for Sunday. They only have certain number of poker rate rooms available, so you may be too late.Elkang,What do you play? I'll be at the 2/5 NL table, and possibly the 5-10 NL table. The bankroll can support it, but I haven't found out if the skills can!

I too will be in AC this memorial Day weekend. My first trip there so any suggestions (poker, good buffets, places to avoid) would be welcome. If I'm not on a 2/4 table, I'll be hotwiring with all the pluckworthy Betty's. Look for me . . . I'll be the guy in the tinfoil hat.

What kind of weekend rate does Borgata give for Poker players? How does that work in terms of setting it up?I applied for (and received) a credit line there, but haven't played there or stayed there yet...
The room can get as cheap as $49 after playing. You need to log some (6?) hours first before they give you the poker rate - noramlly $79. MemoriaL weekend it is $100/$125 though - before additional play discounts.I got Thursday free! :) Go me and my small stakes playing self.

As per this thread I will be playing limit mostly for profit reasons. I feel that is my best option - but based on how me and my friends judge the tables that may change.5-10 the level jumps significantly in skill with a lot more table captainship and aggression. It can be VERY profitable, but overall I think the higher stakes do not offset the calibur of your opponents in AC.

"5-10 the level jumps significantly in skill with a lot more table captainship and aggression. It can be VERY profitable, but overall I think the higher stakes do not offset the calibur of your opponents in AC."Since I love money and winning, and I have done VERY well at the 2/5 tables, I think I will start there. Tons of HORRIBLE players who think there bottom pair is good no matter what the board is. However, if I can win my buy-in to the 5/10 ($1,500) at the 2/5 I think I will move. There is alot to be said for winning the money, but a challenge is good to. If you are in the room, which I assume you will be for most of the weekend, look for a guy wearing a tan (not tinfoil) "Noodle" hat...that'll be me. What is the additinal discount rate? I have logged a good amount of hours there, although they dropped from Jan-April since I am a CPA, but I have never been offered the "discount" poker rate. I was happy enough with the $125 rate on a $300/night room. Please enlighten me.Thanks

We're having dinner at Mixx at Borgata and getting a table later ("R&R" Antonio is right about this) so we can bypass the line. The number of partying women is best at Borgata. Fridays women are free til midnight too but it's because Borgata is just the nicest etc. I can't comment on buffets in AC. I usually eat tableside or at a restaurant (dollar diner on boardwalk or at the Quarter).Check out these threads on FCP for other AC info.Borgota threadatlantic city 1/2 nl Meanwhile, if you see these guys around wearing black bowling shirts say hello:226-2622_IMG.JPGFeel free to make fun of the photo.

I should be wearing a black JOPKE hat. You get the additional lower rate by playing your hours and then asking the poker room manager for the poker rate. However, whether they will do this Memorial Day weekend is unknown. I'm told that the more high rated players in a room the better.

Awesome pic, Elkang. Looks like there's a new rat pack in town. Very reminiscent of the Oceans 11 days. I'll keep my eyes open for any FCP'ers in AC this weekend but it looks like my bankroll will limit me from the 5/10 tables. Good luck to all this weekend and I look forward to hearing how everyone did.

here's a quick little write up I did for some visiting friends... hope someone gets some use out of this this weekend.Thought I'd give you guys a little FAQ about the poker rooms in AC. If you need help with etiquette there's plenty of time for that before you play. This is much more about the bare facts and impressions that people have about the poker rooms. There are six poker rooms in AC, but these are the big three:Borgata - the nicest one. Preflop betting is wild, normal raise $15-$25, but there are also a fair amount of limped pots. 2-5 NL has a time charge, instead of a rake - unless you are playing ubertight, you actually pay less with time than rake - and of course if you're winning. If you have the bankroll join the 3-6 Limit or 2-5NL lists instead of just the 2-4 Limit or 1-2 NL -- the level of play isn't much different. The 10/20 limit is loose and passive - if you have the bankroll this is the game to play.Limit: 2/4, 3/6, 6/12, 10/20, 20/40, 40/80 (weekends), 80/160 (weekends)NL: 1-2 ($300 max), 2-5 ($500 max), 5-10 ($1000 max), 10/25 (occasionally)Taj Mahal - this is the "dirty" poker room and besides being the biggest its where the Big Game is played in AC. Despite seeing pros like Cyndi Violette and Nick Frangos here, many people say the Taj has the softest games, very loose. They also have the worst chips, tables and waitresses.Limit: 2/4, 3/6, 5/10, 10/20, 15/30, 20/40, 50/100(sometimes), 75/150(sometimes)NL: 1-2, 2-5Tropicana - Trop is a filled with locals and attracts some poor players by being right in the middle of the casino floor.Limit: 2/4, 4/8, 6/12, 10/20 (sometimes)NL: 1-2, 2-5, 5-10(weekends), 10-20(weekends)TourneysThere are no tourneys during the weekend at Borgata. Looks like we will head to Taj on Friday for their $50 noon tourney and play there that day.Taj Mahal (609) 449-6910 - Registration 90 minutes before each eventFRI $50 + $15 12:15pmSAT $100 + $20 10:15am $300 + $40 6:15pmSUN $100 + $20 10:15am $100 + $20 6:15pm
