Wpt Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic

Recommended Posts

The WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker Classic begins at The Bellagio at noon Vegas time today and Daniel will be playing.Updates are available at the WPT website.http://www.worldpokertour.com/Live_Updates/Live.aspxThis has been one of Daniel's favorite tournaments as he gets to be at home and he's done well there. Here's what Daniel had to say about the tournament in his blog.http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-jour...&ucat=&

The Bellagio WPT event is getting ready to start on December 14th. Historically I've had great results in this $15,000 buy in event, winning it in 2004, and since then coming 3rd, as well as a 14th place finish where I was chip leader with two tables left before losing with KK to AA. I'm looking forward to this event, as always, but I'm not looking forward to the new Bellagio structures which have become the worst in the country. The structure just disgusts me so much, but it's not like I'm going to skip the event because of it. I'm just so fiercely annoyed that the Bellagio went from some of the best structures in the country, then decided to just randomly make some ridiculous and laughable changes to the structures. The tournament starts with 600 big blinds which is, for lack of a better word, completely and utterly stupid, because it means taking away play at the later, more crucial stages of the tournament. I would be hard pressed to come up with a more absurd structure in this day and age for a $15,000 buy in event. Don't get me started again on the antes!!! They lowered the antes in random spots with absolutely no rhyme or reason. The old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is certainly lost on the decision makers at Bellagio. They took a good thing, and just vomited all over it. Nice job

Why not skip the event if the structure sucks so bad? I realize you have a great results history there and it is pretty much next door to your house, but paying the $15K and attending the event supports the event nonetheless. As long as 'names' like yourself continue to support it by attending then what real reason do they have to make any changes? Granted your squeals and 'bad press' will be heard, but if you are still willing to pay them to play then it's not much skin off their back. With as many large buy-in events as the players have to choose from these days you would think they would be doing everything possible to accommodate what the players want.

I hear ya bro. The structure is stupid, but it's not like I can't win because of it. I'll just keep talking badly about it, whine, complain, and be a royal pain in the ass about it. That usually works lol

I forgot to put the link in my OP but it's there now.http://www.worldpokertour.com/Live_Updates/Live.aspx
LOL, you have to love how they are 'talking up' the starting stacks as if this is a huge upgrade to the players ....Shuffle Up & Deal! The opening blinds are 50-100, and the players begin with 60,000 in chips (quadruple stacks). WOOOHOOOO! QUADRUPLE STACKS!!!! WHAT VALUE!

i mean, all you have to look at to realize how asinine this structure is... freddy deeb got 4th at the last bellagio tournament with this structure despite not even showing up and buying in until day 2.how does that not just shame you if you're jack mcclelland. your entire day 1 is completley irrelevant, and if you let players buy in on day 2 to skip it completely they will, and will be on a level playing field.

Someone needs to explain to Antonio the concept of small ball.I bet he's not sorry he didn't wait till day 2 to buy in though.

This is exactly my thoughts. Why wait so long to play, where there is bad play like this in the beginning of the tourney?By skipping the first few levels, you dont have the luxury to bust terrible players like this.
