PokerFan 0 Posted November 15, 2009 Share Posted November 15, 2009 Ok, Here is my trip report after nobody had any advice for a Saturday Atlantic City Tourney.I'd never been to AC so online I find Bally's has a $60+15 tourney at 1:00pm. on saturdays. I get to Ballys about an hour early sign up and throw down a bagel and notice that this casino is where very old cocktail waitresses come to finish a career.101 players sign up top 10 are paid. $90 for 10th little over 2k for 1st.Starting bell goes off and I'm at a tight table with the exception of the middle eastern guy to my dead right who's plan is to play ATC and over bet the c-bet hoping to buy it there. 4th hand in he limps into my BB and I check with J-8 Diamonds...board hits rags 2 diamonds...He of course fires a bet and I call..4th street a blank and he slows down and checks I fire, he calls...5th another blank I fire again he tanks for a minute and says "my small pair must be no good" and lays it down..yeah for my team..Nothing to noticable till we get done to 3 tables. I'm in the big blind and a guy in early position limps and it is folded around to me in the BB with a power hand of 2-5 off, I check, the flop hits 3-3-4, I check he fires at it...I call with my open ender, 4th is a blank and I check, he is thinking I might have a BB special on him with a 3 so he slows down and checks, now he has to be on A-Q, A-J, A-10...I decide if I hit air on 5th I'll fire at it...Air does hit and I fire 35K into a 70K pot...He tanks for a few minutes and throws it in. I flash my cards to the guy on my right to show him how big my onions are then toss them in...The guy I just bluffed does the show one show all routine and the dealer flips up my monster 2-5 off.We get down to 11 players which is the money bubble, and things get really tight, moslty very short stacks pushing hoping for a walk. In late position it is folded to me with A-10 and I shove on the blinds hoping to steal, the BB wakes up with QQ and calls. We have the same stack size and I'm drawing thin, Flop is 10-rag-rag, giving me a 10 or an ace to win...4th brick and 5th is a miracle 10!!! I make the money and double up heading to the final tableFinal table: I'm just over ave chips with 225K, blinds 20K-10K. A few guys that limped into the money are shoving and busting out so we get to 6 players pretty quick. I don't have much to play but play position poker and get some walks to maintain my chips. When we get down to 5 players the blinds jump to 40K-20K and now we have just a shove fest. 2 more players bust out and I've made 3rd at a minimum. I'm 2nd in chips at 325K, Chip leader has 500K and an older guy with 175K is the shorty..So every 3 hands it cost 60K. Shorty is in the BB and I have K-Q off and shove, chip leader snap calls, uh ohh...and shorty tanks...at this point I hope he calls and if the CL knocks us both out I get 2nd. Shorty folds and the Chip leader flips over A-4 off....A-4??????????? what? he would be crushed if I had anything...so we race it off and I catch all air and bust out in 3rd for a haul of $666.10.Notes:First trip to AC, only saw inside of Bally's nothing else.Players we're so-so me included.Drink servers started work in the mid 50'sSpeaking of drinking. I quit 10 years ago but for a saturday in AC in a low buy in tourney no one was drinking..I mean nothing. What's up with that? Link to post Share on other sites

What in god's good name would be the point of implementing a 100 max game? As if there weren't enough 200 year old men at Bally's already. The justification that they give for the 1-3 nl is that they then can up the minimum buy in from 60 (as it is throughout the rest of AC) to a minimum of 100. I feel like the draw of a 100 max game is going to be all those morons that would sit with 60 everywhere else. That place cracks me up. Haven't played there in a pretty long time and it looks like I won't be back anytime soon. Borgata is where its at imo. Link to post Share on other sites
