I'm Back Fools, But Still Suck So Help Me Out

Recommended Posts

I'm a former mid level brick and mortar player who had good success live. But now because I have no time to make it to the boat I'm trying my game on stars. I have already donked off a quick hundred, I need your help with online play. So questions, how many of you are using some form of a holdem management system? How hardcore do you track you stats? What are your most successful games? Whats the best site to be on? Am I a sucker for playing sit and go's. All these young internet pros Im reading about say they all got better using some sort of poker forum. So I will give it a go. Also what is sweating each other?

I don't use a tracker because I don't play NL cash, and it's not extremely vital in MTTs. My best game is stud8. Sweating one another is watching someone via a screen sharing program such as Yuuguu or TeamViewer and discussing hands as they happen.

Hmmm... No thoughtful replies yet.Start out at the small stakes. Learn the software. Live poker and Internet poker seem like different games at times. Are you playing tournaments or cash games? I've got a quite a bit of experience in the small stakes tournaments (mostly SnG's), not as much in cash. In my experience, the most money/hr is in the SnG multi-table games, but your results may vary.If you're an Omaha (regular and O8) expert, you can make a killing at low stakes. I'm not, unfortunately.I just recently started obsessing over my stats (see my other post).Isn't sweating the same as railing? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. The "2+2" poker forum is the biggest and maybe best. But I like this place. I'm sentimental that way... :club:

I'll attempt a (semi) serious answer,I have already donked off a quick hundredAside from a good understanding of the rules, bank roll management is (imo) probably the most important attribute you need to be successful at poker. It doesn't matter if your Doyle playing the big game or me playing $3.30 HORSE on Pokerstars, if you don't manage your roll you will go broke at some point. Let that wasted $100 be a lesson in roll management. I could be way off here but let me guess, you started at something like a $30 buy in cash game and lost it and attempted to win you money back playing at the same stake? I say that as it something that I have done in the past and i'm sure plenty others have tried to chase money at levels beyond their means. Other have differemt opinions but I would generally only have 10-15% of your stack in play at any one time (Cash or Tournament). Then find a game your are comfortable at a level you can afford, beat it and move up. All the other stuff you mention comes in time but you can't get any of that if you don't have a stack to play with.

Sounds like my first experience on stars! only that I'd win my 70 dollars up to 200, go up to 2/4$ and burn them to far more experienced players.
