$82 Step 3 Pca Decision

Recommended Posts

I've been playing pretty tight and moved it in a few times recently. Seat 5 has been the most aggressive player at the table up to this point. Seat 4 has not played many pots. In this structure Top 5 finishers regain entry to Step 3 and Top 2 gain entry to $215 Step 4. PokerStars Game #33907194063: Tournament #202854480, $75+$7 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level VI (100/200) - 2009/10/11 13:44:55 ET Table '202854480 1' 9-max Seat #3 is the button Seat 1: TheFan83 (1270 in chips) Seat 3: ThinkDustin (1880 in chips) Seat 4: tossedafumo (2465 in chips) Seat 5: simongii (3150 in chips) Seat 6: dickkemp (1020 in chips) Seat 7: jzg80 (1865 in chips) Seat 9: JochenCash (1850 in chips) tossedafumo: posts small blind 100 simongii: posts big blind 200 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to ThinkDustin [5c 5h] dickkemp: folds jzg80: folds JochenCash: folds TheFan83: folds ThinkDustin: raises 1680 to 1880 and is all-in Was this the right move given the circumstances? What is the best play in this spot?

Add in the following factors:You only have about 9BBYou are first to act with only two players behindNeither of the blinds have a stack big enough to call light, so they'll need a strong hand to callEasy shove, imo.

No.It's fold or shove.
so you would open shove 55's with an m of like ( just for arguments sake) 12? I wouldn't open shove that in that deep with a small pocket pair, but frankly we may, and i do stress may, be able to pick off the blinds (which isn't a bad result). A slightly better pocket pair like 8's and ill shove still with an m of 12 maybe. With a semi decent m i don't think you can shove that but i don't mind maybe trying to pick up some blinds going ultra small ball. folding with an m of like 12 seems pretty nitty with almost any pocket pair.

Rumsey, he has < 10 BBs and his M is 6.This is shove or fold AINEC.
Correct. Not trying to be a dick Rumsey, just trying to help you understand. If OP raises and then folds to a shove, he'll be left with about 6 BBs, and an M of 4.

I fold because I'm a nit. The next set of blinds still leave us with a starting stack. I'm sure we'll pick up a better hand than fives in the next 10 or so hands. But I 100% agree with push or fold and like I say the nit here folds.
