Poker Legends Sued for Robot FraudPosted Oct 2nd 2009 12:01AM by TMZ StaffThe biggest names in poker are being sued by two people who claim they were defrauded on an online poker site.1001_ivey_ferguson_getty_ex.jpgLary Kennedy and Greg Omotoy claim they opened an account at fulltiltpoker.com and -- as luck would have it -- they amassed winnings of more than $80,000. The famous poker defendants who own the site -- including Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey and Mike Matusow -- allegedly accused the plaintiffs of using an automated play functions called "robots" instead of playing the game themselves. Since using robots violates Full Tilt's rules, the site's owners confiscated more than $80,000.1002_poker_players_200.jpgThere are other gripes as well in the lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, including an allegation that fulltilitpoker.com manipulates the game through the use of robots of its own so it becomes more a game of luck than skill which is outlawed in California.Read more: http://www.tmz.com/#ixzz0SmtHdTUH

There's some sketchiness. To me, this is a bit like an accused steroid user where there's zero physical evidence besides how well the player is doing and a bit of circumstantial stuff....if there were steroids, you have to deny or otherwise your career is done with basically, you weren't, half the people will never believe you, but you're doing the right thing fighting it vs not.

It is very easy for an internet poker site to look at data and see the impossiblity of outcomes experienced by the results.Unless it is their own superuser accounts, then it takes an act of God.

But isn't it true that the best bots can still be beat consistently, albeit by a smaller population of players than averagely beat the game?

Very long and weird story. That Crazy Mike guy (MrGatorade) seems to have a pretty big hand in "outing" her as well as at least one other player who had her FTP account frozen. It will be interesting to see how this lawsuit pans out, if it moves forward.
