TheWynn 0
We arrived tableside to see Daniel Negreanu all in and dominated by Arnaud Mattern. Negreanu: Mattern: Board: Bink! Negreanu doubled to 425,000, while Mattern was reduced to a well below average 205,000. "Nice hand, man," said Mattern, slightly woodenly. "Thank you," replied a much more animated Negreanu. "No. Choice. At. All."

Got called by AQ flopped a Jack"I want to learn from this move. Was this raise intended as a squeeze play or felt you could just take the whole pot right then?Bob and I just had a MSN discussion about this and we are at different ends of the spectrum.Sure you are short stacked, but you still have 21BB and this seems very anti-small ball in a very very marginal situation that you are killed dominated or racing at best with a raise and a smooth call in front of you. Seems there would have been somewhere around 59K in the pot when you push there which basically allows you to grow your stack by around 35% if you pick up the pot uncontested which is good value assuming you only have to win 1:2 of those in the long run for that play to be profitable right?I'm assuming you had a read and felt you could take the pot at this point or wanted to gambooool and double up or go home so you have enough chips to play 'your game'Would love to hear your thoughts on this one.Either way, nice bink and GLGLGLGL! TID! http://tworags.com/blog/bond18/post/986/th..._1__stack_sizes14-21 BB’s. Most (but not all) of the time you have a 14-20 BB stack you shouldn’t be open raising with hands that can’t call a 3-bet. There will, in fact, be spots where because of very weak/tight players behind you that you can raise/fold this stack size, but for the most part, this kind of stack's usefulness is more for restealing all in than open raising. This is in fact an optimal-sized stack to resteal, though many players these days are very aware that this is an optimal resteal all in stack so be mindful of players who are aware of what this stack size indicates.Given there is another caller before it gets to DN It is normal from a internet perspective. My guess is the standard of play at this tourney is such that he can't just be sticking to small ball when on the verge of being short stacked because the easy double ups are not there. CaneBrain 95
Awesome showing by James Akenhead who has a decent chance to pull of the Demidov (final table the ME and Euro ME).Also, go DN!
silkyjonson 1
You can't play small ball with a 20bb stack. Small ball indicates making small investments with good implied odds, you cant make small investments with ~20bb stacks. With as much money as there is in the pot you have a really good price to go with the hand, on 20bbs you cant sit and wait for the nuts if you do you'll end up sticking it in with 10bbs and a double still does'nt give you much room to play. DanielNegreanu 141
The AJ no choice hand: Araud makes it 19k UTG. The awful, loose Hungarian player called. He calls a lot, but won't call 180k there ever. Then Akenhead also calls. If he had anything he raises for sure. I'm in BB you have three guys in there for 19k, 3k in the sb, 6k in the bb and 4k in antes. Knowing I can only get called by one player, there is way too much meat out there to play it any other way. I have to take a shot of getting to 250k with no call. If I get by Arnaud, it's clear sailing. I'm playing great btw. I stopped limping about two years ago... I'm back to mixing it up with some limps and small raises. I can't believe I ever stopped limping. It's part of my "flow" and creates a gamy dynamic that is good for me.
