David_Sklansky 1,903
I don't really know anything about basketball. How meaningful is a stat like this? I know in hockey plus/minus is meaningless, but scoring frequency is so different in basketball that it would seem potentially much more predictive here. If a player is a plus player, does that pretty reliably predict that he is going to be better or more valuable than a minus player? Or is there a lot more context that needs to be considered before you have an accurate impression?
BigDMcGee 3,352
Allocated wins is way more important of a state
David_Sklansky 1,903
Never mind, found the article, and it dedicates a little space to convincing me of the stat's usefulness. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/lebron-james-shouldnt-stay-in-miami-or-go-to-cleveland/
SuitedAces21 2,721
i don't think i've ever been as wrong about a basketball player as i was about anthony davis. he's already the third best player in the nba.
Essay21 2,385
In my defense though, at the time I hated him for preventing Ku from winning the title. I think it's obvious now Ku was better in every way except him and he was that good it didn't matter.

FCP Bob 1,311
A few plays after this Drummond body checked Johnson and had words with Chuck Hayes. I can't think of two guys in the NBA you want to get in a fight with less than Johnson who is a Black Belt and has done MMA fighting or Hayes.

SuitedAces21 2,721
shouldn't oklahoma city ship a 1st, mitch mcgary, kendrick perkins and nick collision to celtics for jeff green and brandon bass. it would be a hilarious reversal of that trade and would work out for both sides. SuperJon 175
shouldn't oklahoma city ship a 1st, mitch mcgary, kendrick perkins and nick collision to celtics for jeff green and brandon bass. it would be a hilarious reversal of that trade and would work out for both sides. i have no clue what any of this means. of course i haven't really paid attention to the NBA in quite some time. Essay21 2,385
Like a blind man picking out his favorite porno. The celtics orignally traded/unloaded kendrick perkins worthless ass on OKC for jeff green. This would fix that and also mean the celtics easily won both trades. Celtics add another pick and the thunder get back a good wing for the chanpionship push, plus a serviceable back up big.
