FCP Bob 1,321
The B.C Lottery Corp. is planning to add casino games and poker to their online offering in March. This appears to be a government monopoly and not the start of setting up regulation of other online casinos and poker sites and I'm pretty sure that they won't be allowed to offer games to people from outside of B.C. in other Provinces.http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/cbc/090821/cana...on_casino_games B.C.'s online casino plan draws criticismFri Aug 21, 11:55 PM VANCOUVER (CBC) - The B.C. Lottery Corp. is defending its decision to introduce casino games online that could generate up to $100 million a year in revenue by 2014.Games like blackjack, roulette and poker will be available by next March on the corporation's PlayNow website, according to a release issued Thursday. The corporation wants to tap into the estimated $87 million that British Columbians already spend on unregulated offshore gaming websites."Rather than it all going offshore to places like Antigua, there's an opportunity to keep it here in British Columbia," corporation CEO Michael Graydon told CBC News. The news comes on the heels of a controversial Aug. 17 announcement that the lottery corporation plans to raise the weekly limit on its PlayNow website from $120 to nearly $10,000. grocery_mony 8
Only makes sence to regulate and profit from something that people are gonna do elsewhere anyway. I just hope this doesnt meen that they will try to shut down people from BC who play on Stars, Tilt ect which I fear might be the case.

rcgs59 15
i'm willing to bet the olg won't be far behind this...QFTinteresting approach to take.really how supportive and successful will the program be compared to pokerstars and fulltilt. Also the payouts?I know the slots payout here in Ontario stink in comparison to Vegas, AC or the casino's in the States. The percentages payoffs are much higher south of the border. I was talking with an OLG manager one day about the % payoffs comparisons and how they differ and she explained it to me. It starts at 85% that is put into the machine can go upwards depends on the play ability %. I believe they start at 90-93% or higher in the States
JubilantLankyLad 1,957
if this is real poker, and not Caribbean Stud or Video Poker, this will make me a very happy boy.

It could easily just be casino games that they call poker and not real poker.Running an online casino where players play against the house is much easier than running a real cardroom with poker being played by players against each other. As always, it's all about the hold percentage and the $$$ that flows into the OLG...not out.

They are only offering Pacific Hold'Em which is played against the house in a bingo-like fashion.

I think they are adding new games in March and that was what their news release was about. That probably won't include real poker though.
