Thoughts?Ok, I won't debate playing the K-10 early position. IMO, K-10 is too weak to open raise with UG+2. Nor do I like min-raises in a cash game with deep stacks. Again IMO, min-raises are a tournament strategy. But since you did play it like that, so be it. What I can't for the life of me understand is how you could call the massive re-raise preflop. You don't mention any reads, so what hands did you put him on? With no reads, and assuming the way many people at that blind level generally play, a big overbet like that screams a Big Pair or Big Slick but not Aces or Kings. He'd want some action with Aces or Kings, maybe even Q-Q, but with J-J or 10-10 or A-K he just wanted to take down the pot right then. Certainly not how I would play it, but that's how many of them would. In any case, your equity against that hand range with a K-10 is quite low. Possibly you just like to gamble?Final analysis, you played a weak hand out of position, and got incredibly lucky and made a straight. But Paco the Poker God said, "not so fast you", and villian rivered a boat and stacked you.I think that about sums it up.

Good analysis. yea i really thought he had a large pkt pair, and not hit a set on the flop. Prolly didnt help i had a decent buzz going so i think that was where the "gamble" came from. The min raise i agree with. Prolly should've just folded preflop, but hands like that can sometimes hit hard. When the flop cam out w/the gutshot and 2nd nut flush draw made it tough not to play. thx for the input.

Opening preflop is fine, depending on the players and how well you play postflop. Fold to the 3 bet.Don't minraise.Shove over c/r on the flop.

raise standard preflop and shove turn if he rivers you he rivers you. yah k10 isnt the best in that position but isn't a bad hand to mix it up and it was suited but anyways, hand went well for you unlucky on river but the money should have been in earlier.

im torn between fold our call 3 bet, if you do call, folding is just fine, then check behind on turn and reraise possibly overbet shove turn when you hit it. not very sneaky but it seems he wouyld have gone with it

The more i think about this hand, the more i wish i could of got away from it.. even a decent re-raise pre-flop prolly isnt getting this guy off his pkt j "not @ this limit". He damn sure isnt going anywhere when he hit his set.. And on the flop he prolly had no clue that i had hit a str8.. river was unlucky but i miss read my opponent..
