Durr Live Million Dollar Challenge In London

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember somebody offering to play anybody at the game of their choice and not only 2 games for anywhere from $100K to $500K.
I seem to remember a certain offer drying up and going away as soon as someone wasn't working at the Wynn anymore.

Still doesn't change the fact that the offer was out there and he took on people at what the other person thought was their best game and it was Daniel's money that was at risk not The Wynn's. No casino is going to risk that kind of money on a promotion that wasn't televised as the ecomomics of a live poker room just don't support it. They just don't generate that much money. If Ivey would make the same challenge not sure how much action he would get since most people probably don't think that they're as good as him even in their best games.

It wasn't televised, just live at The Wynn cardroom. For the Durr promotion I would imagine the players are risking their own money but will be paid a fee like the players are on Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker and the fee will be much less than the money that they're risking.

That was my point, that it wasn't televised, and the big games were at the venetian (if it was open then) and in bobby's room, and daniel could never get the "gang" to play at the wynn, so not as much action took place. i guess that is all for naught though as my point being this is going to be televised and it will be awesome.

At that time the high stakes action pretty much was all at The Bellagio. Daniel wasn't a big enough fish for other high stakes players to follow him to The Wynn and have the games there. From a fan's point of view the fact the Durr challenge will be on TV of course is great.

what were DN's results after that challenge?
This might not be complete.Lost $200K to David Oppenheim at Limit HoldemWon $500K from Mimi Tran at Limit HoldemLost $200K to Joe Cassidy at Limit HoldemI think he and Barry Greenstein broke even with Barry winning the 2 7-card stud matches and Daniel winning at PL Omaha and 7-Stud 8 or BetterHe lost $500K to a rich guy who didn't want his name out there in public but I don't recall what game they played.Again I could be wrong and this might not be complete.

I love Phil Ivey's comment about this when he was talking about the Durr challenge in "tuesdays with Ivey" on poker road radio. "I have never really posted a challenge, Daniel's posted a challenge, I am just assuming everyone knows that I am going to play every game. That I am going to play anybody at every game. "

If I remember correctly, he played something like 6 or 7 matches and was up negligibly with one match to go(or in progress??) with Barry Greenstein. It used to be posted in his results forum, but I couldn't find it in there anymore.

I couldn't find the results either.I think that last match that was in progress was the one with the rich guy and I think that was the last match that he played so that would fit with your recollection as he was up $100K after the three limit matches and even with Barry over 4 matches.
