chrozzo 19
If you're playing at the right limit, and don't suck, you shouldn't get too close to busting./thread

Chris-LFC 0
What would be considered "the right limit" for $800?Depends what game you want to play?NL Cash, 10c/25cLH cash 1/2SNG $10 or possibly $20MTT $5 shots at $10thats pretty rough, but theres articles all over about good BR managementthe last time i went busto was in march i think, i tilt sat in a $10/$20 LHE 6max game and got crushed for my whole roll of $600, but it made me a hell of a better player after busting my roll a few times, i stick to strict BR management now, i use a 500 Big Bet rule for LHE games now, and drop down to the level below if i lose 200 Big Bets at my current level. At the end of march i had $100 from rakeback put in my account and from strict BR management (although i did win a small tourny to get me started) i am now upto $2k+ even after withdrawls (which wasnt much). Once i learned proper BR management it was like everything in poker fell into place, and its always nice being able to play games im properly rolled for and not having to worry about running bad and losing too much of my roll
Orion071 0
I've been playing on-line for over 4 years and I haven't deposited in over 3. I started off originally on 888 and Party with a couple hundred on each, but went bust. I put $500 on FTP and got $500 in bonus money. Almost went bust there too (very poor BR management), but final tabled a big MTT and scored $1100. After that, I learned what limits to play for my BR and I've grinded it up ever since. Now I mostly play .5/1 cash games (even though I'm rolled for 1/2) because I'm a part-time player and that's a good game for my skill level. You have to learn bankroll management. It's sooooo easy to say "I'm too good for these stakes" and want to move up, but a bad string of cards can break you if you play above your roll no matter how good you are. Once you find your comfort zone you'll be in good shape.
PillyPill 0
Thanks to all who posted. I know it is kind of the same old stuff posted everywhere, but to me, it is a good thing to kind of rekindle the topic. Hopefully, someday, I will learn. lol. Thanks again!
Darth Maple 0
I've played poker online for 2 years roughly and I'm a winning player. I started taking poker 'seriously' i.e practicing good bank roll management and managed to turn a $93 deposit into $650 before hitting a downswing and couldn't handle it. I withdrew $500 or so and then lost the rest. I then went about taking a new relaxed attitude to bank roll management because I could 'reload' at any time. Poker isn't a job for me and I wanted to hit a big score. After several deposits and re-deposits of $50 I started getting annoyed with myself effectively 'going knowhere' I suddenly realised the way forward would be to work hard, play well within my comfort zone and take it from there.I deposited $100 onto Stars on 26 June 2009 (few weeks ago) and set about grinding the $1.75 18 man turbo's. I keep a record of my results and when things are going bad I read my sheet to build my confidence, review my results and realise and believe that I'm still a winning player. I want to win every session and thats not possible but its me. OK so I'm only at the start of my quest but the bankroll has moved from $100 to $185 and not too many more fpp's to go to unlock a $29 bonus (hey it all helps). Prior to this I would have lost the $50 and re-deposited numerous times. I have direction now and a purpose and I've never been happier playing poker
tuckermitchell 1
good thing I'm the only one on this site that's had to deposit more than 5 times. I'm single handedly keeping all of you guys in bankrolls.

Pfft...if I deposited less than 100 times ($50 to $200 a shot) prior to quitting online poker for good, I'd be amazed. It's not even that I'm bad at poker, I just have absolutely no ability to take the online game as seriously as it needs to be taken. I get click happy and just give money away after an hour or two. mrpaddyx 13
I find my biggest leak is getting drunk and doing stupid thinks like entering the Sunday Million using my entire roll. I would also say that discipline is a key factor. Try keep a record of what games you do well in and which ones you are the donator.

I can't say I can relate to that..................................................................................................Anyways, I started a very generic tracking spreadsheet to start seeing when I profit. Made a deposit last night of $150 (hopefully last one ever), and ran it up to $275 playing the Negreanu Open, a $12 45-man TURBO, one 4.40 (sigh), and about 15 minutes of a 0.25/0.50 cash game. Maybe I will start blogging again about this deposit and that will have me focus. And yes I know I am dumb paying $12 out of a starting $150, but meh. Thanks again everyone! MaxStPolish 4
I sat down with $25, so TECHNICALLY it was 1/10, which is OH SO MUCH BETTERya, if ur sitting with 25, why not sit at a .10/.25 table?A bit easier on the roll, and if you stack, it's gonna net the same + or -dooooooooooooooooooooo it. PillyPill 0
$25/$150 = 1/6$15/$150 = 1/10But yes, better At the time, it was $25/$250 from the winnings in previous tourneys.

Just wanted to play for like 10 minutes while I waited for the plumber who was late for his appointment this morning.I guess my plan at the moment is 1. Begin using better BR management than I have been, although I will be doing it in steps, and2. If I lose 3 in a row, just call it a night. If I quit after three losses, I won't go on these huge stretches of just massive lossed. With that equation, my deposits should last longer (hopefully for a long ass time). Thanks again guys!!!
