No, I just don't think I should post.
Generally speaking, getting put at a tv table is worth 5-10K, depending on how well you negotiate. The reps from Poker Royalty float around those two tables and jump on you the second you show up....

So you were basically freerolling, you received sponsorship money for being at the feature table, you might get some TV time....OMG DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope didn't spill coffee on myself, but I did walk straight into the womens rest room took a long nice piss and texted some friends, before noticing that it was FAR too quite to be the mens room. At which point I saw a lady walking into another stall and quietly "skirted" my way out the door.
Urinals. Look for urinals.

For a poor guy like me, that would be like winning the lottery to be at the feature table and get sponsorship money...all the more reason I thought that it was mightily duechey that Phil Ivey refused to be at the feature table thus costing everyone else that drew his table to miss out on sponsorship money and a chance to be on television.
so everyone has to agree to play it, or did ivey get special treatment?

Ok so the title isn't completely accurate. Day 1 was the most fun that I have ever had at a poker table. I was lucky to even have made it through almost into day three. I completely soked in the experience of playing at the feature table. I was joking around with everyone and just generally having a good time with it. At one point I even sang to Eli when we ended up heads up in a hand. All that being said on some level if you don't win it is a disaster. That's the problem with poker 6,400 people go home bent out of shape to some extent while only one person leaves completely happy. Although at least the people at the end have the million dollars to help heal those feelings. Even though it is the worst feeling when you get knocked out of the main event at least Pro's can take some comfort in knowing that they'll have another shot in just one year. Most likely I will be able to play again next year, but there are no guarantees. I consider myself extremely lucky just to have had the opportunity to play three out of the last four years. Over the three years that I have played the trip has been profitable and you never know if you are going to make a deep life changing run.

No offence but most people who have the mentality of the OP don't stand much of a chance, and that is why the Main is such good value.
You are correct if the mentality is: "I am going to win the main event", because the reality is that you cannot win the main event on day 1, 2, 3... The first year I played I went in with the attitude that I was going to win and I was bounced on day one. Just because you don't go in with that mentality doesn't mean that you aren't disapointed though. Truthfully, though for me its more about the experience then anything else. That doesn't mean I don't want to do well, but it is an amazing experience that I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to take part in. Anyone who loves playing this game should experience it. I am amazed that they don't draw 10,000 people.

As for how much I just don't think that you should post that sort of thing. It is really sort of a frantic process, because you have to start off the day wearing the logo so you litterally only have like five minutes to negotiate (although I had decided that I would miss the beginning if necessary). If your table is chosen to be the feature table when you arrive at your original table they have a flyer taped to the table saying "Please report to the ESPN feature table" (at which point you litterally piss yourself). When you walk over to the feature table area carrying your seat card these poker agents will politely approach you offering you a variety of deals for wearing a logo on your shirt, a hat, or both.
so you're saying you pissed your pants? did you bring a bag with you with clothes the change into? or did you suffer through it?
whats your name i want to watch you on espn
he will be the guy no one recognizes....but will be wearing some form of online poker room advertisement apparel

I meant the mentality of being in awe of name players and just of the overall event. I totally understand and respect that mentality though, not trying to bash it, but whenever I'm playing in anything I try to just break it down to a tournament like any other.

I suffered through it so I guess you'd say I'll be wearing some form of online poker room advertisment apparel (UB) and pants with a wet spot.

Seriously, why wouldn't you think it is something appropriate to post? This is a Poker Discussion Forum. People post and discuss any number of details including wins/losses. Information like this is interesting and even valuable to the Poker community as we live vicariously through your experiences and especially giving us an idea of what to expect and how to negotiate if we are ever lucky/good enough to some day find ourselves in a similar situation.Unless you agreed to some sort of a Non-Disclosure, why wouldn’t you share this detail?
