i probably bet the river for value.

I'd definately bet the river. He would have almost certainly led out on the flop if he hit the Q. I agree that he probably has 76s. Regardless, the river didn't help him, so I bet for value.

The river brought the 3rd spade.
I think that if the spade had helped him, his raise would have been on the flop, rather than the turn.
