lol that was one of the three I had for pick 37. Nice pick
Heh, thanks. Had him considered for the 33, then figured he might fall a bit, then backtracked and was freaking out that I wouldn't get him, so I made a bad trade up to get him. :club:

Guide that we can use to comment on prospects:1. “Can’t-miss prospect”Applicable to a blue-chipper like John Tavares or Victor Hedman. So good, so talented, there's no way he'll fall anything short of NHL superstar. Past examples include Alexandre Daigle and Brian Lawton.2. “Bit of a project”Meaning he skates on his ankles, but he’s really, really big. If it works out, you get a Dustin Byfuglien or Zdeno Chara. If it doesn’t, you get a few cheap laughs.3. “Surprise selection”TV commentator code for “Just doing a quick Google search, we’ll have more on this kid from Slovenia shortly.”4. “Undersized”Should thank his lucky stars he wasn’t draft-eligible 10 years ago.5. “Has been compared to [insert current NHLer]”For example, if you’re a tall defenceman: Chris Pronger. But for some reason, never Hal Gill.6. “Big-time player”Performed admirably at the World Junior Championships.7. "Character concerns"Usually refers to an isolated incident during his junior career, like getting busted for underage drinking. This is automatically followed by an allusion to Sean Avery.8. “Monster”Any kid who Pierre McGuire has seen make a good play.9. “Still waiting to fill out”Looks hilarious in a suit, too.10. “Puck-moving defenceman”Used in conjunction with “superior mobility,” “smooth-skating” and “pinpoint passer on the breakout.” Here’s how one might use it in a sentence: The Vancouver Canucks could use a puck-moving defenceman.11. “Enigma”Talented but inconsistent. “Coach’s nightmare” may be substituted in most cases.12. “A sick talent”And should TSN wish to awkwardly relate any further to younger viewers, he’s “got mad skillz, yo."13. “Two-way player”Plays offensively and defensively, though neither especially well. 14. “Prairie boy”Default descriptor for any player who grew up within 30 miles of a farm. Will be praised for his outstanding work ethic, family values and livestock handling.15. “Conditioning challenged”In pre-draft questionnaires, lists Keith Tkachuk as his hero and “that stupid VO2-max test” as his biggest pet peeve.16. “Late bloomer”Wasn’t actively scouted when he was 12.17. “Character player”This kid here is a WARRIOR, a lead-by-example guy who teammates WILL GO TO THE WALL FOR. You want a player who BRINGS IT NIGHT IN AND NIGHT OUT? You got him RIGHT HERE.18. “High hockey IQ”These are the smart guys, the same ones who have great “puck awareness” and who don’t answer every question with, "I just go out and work hard every day."19. “Slip slider”Once highly touted, this player has dropped considerably in the scout’s rankings. When he’s finally selected late in the first round, it’s customary to say he could be the steal of the draft.20. “Power-play specialist”Also known as, “defensive liability.”21. “Defensive specialist”Also known as, “can barely take a pass.”22. “Raw talent”A superior athlete who needs to work on the strategic aspects of the game. Plays right wing, left wing, centre and defence, often during the same shift.23. “The complete package”This guy can skate, shoot, pass, hit, fight, balance a chequebook, walk your dog, make a pineapple upside-down cake and clean the gutters. There are questions about his durability, however. 24. “Long”Means the kid’s tall with arms that hang down to his knees. Basketball guys have been using this term for years. It’s just a nicer way of saying “gangly” or “freaky looking.”25. “Man among boys”Has a full beard, affinity for chewing tobacco, and at least four girls from his hometown who think they’re going to be his wife.26. “Just a great kid”His coach raves about his attitude and the scouts laud his maturity. He’s only 18, but he carries himself well beyond his years. Total nerd.27. “Interesting pick”The politically correct way of saying a general manager just made a terrible mistake.28. “Baby-faced”See: Kane, Patrick (2007) and Linden, Trevor (1988).29. “Sportswriter’s dream”It doesn’t take much in the NHL. English-speaking is preferred. Maybe a tattoo?30. “Largely unnoticed by scouts”Another way of saying he grew up in a tiny Russian town north of the Arctic Circle.

This is the first pick in a long time that I've never heard of.===========Was kinda hoping to get Rundblad with the 48th, good pick Steve.

42. Casey Pierro-ZabotelKinda a homer pick, but he fell far enough. A little insurance for my Penguins cheering potential in case Caputi doesn't pan out.Steve-o is up.

I tried to pull the trigger on CPZ a couple of times but I just couldn't do it. He definitely fell far enough, nice pick.

Nice pick on Carter Ashton, Steve. I was debating him and Ferraro for the 33rd overall, and he still fell to me at 42. I probably should have snagged him there, but went the homer-route anyways, hoping he'd be available at 48.

Awesome....I take a chance on Keith Seabrook and he gets traded from the Caps to the Flames.
sick timing. who knows what happens by the time Seabrook is ready, but I guess this is a step backward for his FCHL value.Loved the guide Duane, very funny.I agree about Ashton slipping. I thought he'd go earlier too fwiw. This thread has me looking fwd to next summers draft! :club:

Broadway selects Chris Terry form the Carolina HurricanesDanny is up
Can't believe he lasted this long. He turned it on the 2nd half of the OHL season this year after getting snubbed from team Canada camp, hes small but I think hes going to turn out to be a huge diamond in the rough.
