50k Horse Buy A Bracelet

Recommended Posts

The 50K event has always been a joke. Climbing over 94 of your closest friends to win a bracelet sounds more like a home game to me than a prestigious WSOP event. Lower the buy in to 10K like all of the other championships and then we can have a real WSOP Horse Championship Event. If your point is that a well known pro should win that is what the invitational tournament is for. Events like this are one of the main problems with the players advisory. It is only made up of well known pro players, most of them are friends. Allowing a group of friends to help in the decision making process gives that group the power to slant decisions in their favor. Hence all of the big buy in 5:00 PM events last year. It was no surprise that a well known pro won player of the year. The players advisory council has really turned the POY race into a joke. The pro's have their pre selected 95 player events that give the same amount of points as events with 3000 players. By all means don’t do away with the players advisory just make the process of selecting people for it better.

I totally disagree the names in the HORSE event make it interesting and the best tourney at the WSOP the Main Event is a lotteryThis post gets my nomination for dumbest of the day

So far, I agree. The day on FCP is still young.

Does anyone think this is Steve Zolotow and he is just mad he was first out of the 50k this year...?(this is doubly funny cause of how nice and laid back SteveZ obviously is)

Well the professional poker tour was so "interesting" why not just watch that instead? If interesting means seeing the same group of friends everytime I recommend watching your local home game. The thing that made the WSOP blow up was seeing the unknown player come to Vegas and take his shot. The point of the 40K & 50K events is to limit field size so the pro's can pick up POY points. Did Brock Parker buy in to the 50K? No, while he was busy trying to climb over 3000 competitors all of the pro's made their impressive run to battle out 95 competitors. Let's just say events with 95 people SUCK!!! I definitely put an astrick next to anyone who wins this one.

I am putting an astrick next to all of your posts to identify those that are incoherentI really think that having 95 of the world's best players competing for a bracelet makes the event interesting and I would hardly describe it as warranting as astrick

The 10k Stud Championship had 147 entries. I'm guessing that bracelet shouldn't count either? Those fools on the advisory committee just trying to create events to make it easy to get POY points. The same goes for those draw events - they're just a POY grab. They should make them $150 entry fees to attract 3000 people.

If you don't like the event, don't play. If you don't think it's good watching, don't watch. If you think it adversely affects the other events and hurts your chances at POY, then don't play the other events, and create you own Series with whatever buyin amounts you deem appopriate.

Since Daniel is on the advisory committee I'm surprised that he didnt create 3 or 4 restricted events where only he would be allowed to enter and would end up with a bracelet. This would sure help him in his bet with Phil Ivey. This HORSE tourney is utter joke though. Why on earth should someone get a bracelet for beating 75 of the best poker players in the world??? It makes utterly no sense to me. Actually. The whole WSOP is a joke. I cant really afford to fly to Vegas and put myself in a hotel for awhile and play events. Because of me being shut out I dont think bracelets should be awarded to the winners. They are practically buying the bracelets. Its completely unfair. All tournaments that award bracelets should be freerolls so everyone can play.

You do realize that even if they lowered the buy in and more people played, that a pro would probably still win.Since you know, most people suck at HORSE.

I agree 100%.The 10k buy-in Main Event is a much better indicator of poker prowess. You have to beat like, 6000 people, not 65.

See you in 4 years.Dan.
go buy in and win ur bracelet then. lol.
This. If this was a buy-a-bracelet event, wouldn't Doyle have one already, and wouldn't Chip have repeated?Honestly, it'll be rare, if at all, to see a person repeat in this event, just because of the talent pool.
fyp
Damn.

I think the main event should be a 50k buy in. Does anyone really care that Jamie Gold made it through a field of thousands of people to win the main event? People win the lottery all the time, nobody cares. The main event started as a 10k buy in in the 70's but 10k was a lot more then than it is now. 50k, or at least 25k, would cut a lot of idiots and still bring a pretty big field. With that being said, I disagree with OP.
