I play it the sameWe have half of the sevens, so it's hard to see a chop and very view hands have us beat, so demoines is probably right about getting it in

I think I play it the same. Nitty perhaps, but the villain's play on the river is a bit surprising. With no reads I err on the side of caution.

No reads and having half the sevens, at these stakes its possible he flopped/turned a boat but its still unlikely... there's just too much value in shoving for me to flat here since villain is probably too pot committed and too bad to release 88+ in this spot...

For those of you advocating getting it on on the river, what would villain play this way that I beat? He raised from early position so a lower straight is highly, highly unlikely, and it would be very strange for him to play a high pair in this manner with the coordinated board on the river.

He raised PF, bet the flop, check called the turn and pushed the river. He's either full or has a big over pair, and I tend to favor his range being big overpairs.There's also bluffs and missed spades for AKss etc. etc. There's also A2ss straights. There's also a lot of 3s he could hold here.If he's full, we pay him.

Yeah, I suppose if he's willing to raise 33 or 44 from that position he'd also raise hands like 22 or A2s.

The river is a lame spot because unless he's really retarded he shouldn't be 3betting without a full house. That said, there are a lot of retards who play 5nl and I play the river the same.Don't bet the turn though unless you have a read that he'll check/call a small bet with AQ type hands.

True, but usually the retards make their fancy moves on the flop or turn, river bets are more often the hands they represent.

I will always make a move at the pot in a situation like this until I have a read that it won't work. I'm able to frequently take down pots this way because it is very common for players at this level to pull back and give up with missed overcards or marginal hands. They'll typically either check-fold the turn, or throw out a weak small bet and fold to a raise.
