Event 30: $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha - Day 1The WSOP has a foot on the brakes today, as only one new event is scheduled for this afternoon: a $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha tournament, scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon local time. Some have referred to this event as a 'warm-up' for this week's $10,000 World Championship PLO Event, meaning we're likely to see the best Omaha players in the world hit the felt in droves, prepping for the big one. Phil Galfond took down last year's $5,000 PLO Event, earning himself a $817,781 payday, but the event received a major facelift during the off-season. Last year, rebuys were permitted, and the 152 players who entered generated 483 of them. This time around, rebuys are not an option. Instead, players will start with two 'add-on chips' worth 5,000 each, which they can activate at any time during the first three levels. Use up all three bullets and you're out; it's that simple.

Random thought: Think they'll make a 6-handed PLO event at the WSOP in the near future?
I think they should and would not be surprised if it happened next year. When I was out there I heard a lot of people talking about how much they liked the 6 handed events.

Luck of the DrawAs the room starts to take shape, some very tough tables are forming... perhaps none as tough as table six, where Noah Boeken, Brock Parker, Michael Mizrachi, Shawn Buchanan, Shaun Deeb and Kirill Rabtsov are sharing real estate.OUCH!!!

Probably not too many people here recognize EW & F by picture. Oldschool ftw!
I would still love to see the Earth, Wind & Fire concert with Chicago!!/hijack

Phil Ivey may have only arrived 50 minutes ago, but he is already making his presence known, chipping up to 50,000 in less than one level of play.

Can someone explain the hockey day thing?
The NHL awards are in Las Vegas tomorrow night and a bunch of NHL players are playing in a charity poker tournament at the Rio today so there are a bunch of professional autograph seekers out there looking to get stuff signed and put it on E-Bay.

People buy things signed by hockey players?
