I'm super confused!Mark
Me too! The chances seem extremely low to me that IQ and checky each withdrew "one thousand eighteen hundred dollars" (which sounds a lot like a non-existent number). Also I don't know how IQ managed to withdraw what I have to assume is $1,800 by wire transfer, as I believe $2,000 is the minimum.

I just noticed I now have a "Premium Bank Wire" option on FTP, I haven't had this before.Anyone know how much my bank might charge? I've heard up to 50, but I've heard less too.Anyone with Chase ever used it?
I was charged $29 on a 2500 dollar cashout.

FWIW, the funds freezing made it onto Attack of the Show's 06/18/2009 show in a section of the show called "The Loop" where the host talks to a well-informed (most of the time) individual about some recent issue. I was happy to see that Steve Lipscomb was that "informed individual" because it's probably one of the few times online poker wasn't viewed as a devious, life-sucking habit (not one word from you LHE grinders, not. a. word.).

I have the feeling the people who cashed their checks@check cashing services are in a world of trouble most don't even know about. These checks were returned, and against accounts that are frozen/closed. Bouncing a check is one thing. This could be seen as fraud. I guess we'll see what happens the next time one of them gets pulled over.I also requested a check on 6/8, and haven't received it yet. Doing father's day crap on saturday so I can put in a 30 hour session and try to get the scratch up to catch the end of the series. There's not much that's more frustrating than not being able to get your money. Odd, I used to wait 3-4 weeks for bodog checks, but it was expected. Less than 2 weeks here and it seems much worse.

Basically it means that just because the check cashing place gave you the money it doesn't mean that they're on the hook legally if it is returned. You have an obligation to pay them that money back plus I bet a ton of penalties written into their contract. If you don't pay them back they'll send the collection agents after you and it will screw up your credit and there is also a chance that they will report the matter to police as fraud and it might be investigated that way.I think it's actually much much worse to have a check returned to a check cashing place than it is to your bank for most people. About 18 months ago I had about $5K in checks returned from On Game as they screwed up with their check processing. Because of my relationship with my bank it wasn't an issue and they didn't even charge me any penalties, they just took that amount out of my bank account.

After getting my original 1000 dollar withdrawal via check returned to me on full tilt, I attempted to withdraw via bank transfer on june 10th. The transfer has been approved but has yet to hit my bank account, it says in emails this can take 10-15 bus. days but it had been taking 2 days max for these to go through before this latest processor issue popped up. So anyways, below is the email I sent full tilt to ask them about the status of my transfer and if my transfer was still going to go through with the current processor issue. PS- if anyone plans on cashing out soon and needs the money in a hurry i recommend using Gary Benson. You can simply transfer him the money and he will mail you a check. He charges a small fee for the transaction, ~36 dollar fee to receive a 1000 check for me, but in the times i have used the service in the past the check always arrives in a couple business days.Hello xxxxx,Thank you for contacting Full Tilt Poker Support.Bank Transfer processing times vary, so we normally ask players to allow 15 business days to receive their funds.Unfortunately, Bank Transfers may take slightly longer than usual as we are experiencing a temporary delay, and it may take up to 20 business days for your withdrawal to process. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It is important to us that you receive your funds in a timely manner, and we are doing everything we can to ensure your request is processed as soon as possible. If we become aware of any change to the status of your withdrawal, we will contact you with an update right away.Thank you for your understanding, and if there's anything else we can help you with, please feel free to ask. We're always here to help.Regards,Ken HFull Tilt Poker Support

I did the same thing a couple weeks ago, just as this whole thing was starting. Sent an email to ask if mine was one of the ones that was affected, they gave me a generic response, but it went through a few days later. So it took like a week give or take as opposed toa couple days. Not sure about now though.

I emailed him with this:Dear Mr. Kathrein, I saw your interview recently on CNBC regarding online gambling, and would like to follow up on the question you were asked by the host as to the source of your data. All of my friends are saying you looked stupid on that show and that you just made up the information linking online gambling to child abuse, but it seems unlikely that someone in your high position would risk his reputation by just making things up on national television. Therefore, please send me the source of your information so that I can tell my friends that you are correct. I want them to know that, just because something makes no sense doesn't mean it's not true. Thanks for your attention to this issue.
Here's the response I got from him. Feel free to point out the flaws, just in case you think they are not obvious enough:------------------

Betting your life on it .Problem gambling has clear health related consequences

Gambling has not been traditionally viewed as a public health matter, and research into the health, social, and economic impacts of gambling is still in its infancy.1-3 Just under 1% of the British population have a severe gambling problem, although the rate is about twice as high in adolescents, particularly as a result of problematic slot machine gambling.4 5 Pathological gambling is characterised by unrealistic optimism on the gambler's part. All bets are made in an effort to recoup losses. The result is that instead of cutting their losses, gamblers get deeper into debt, preoccupying them with gambling, and they are determined that a big win will repay their loans and solve all their problems. The social and health costs of problem gambling are large at both individual and societal levels. Personal costs can include irritability, extreme moodiness, problems with personal relationships (including divorce), absenteeism from work, neglect of family, and bankruptcy. Adverse health consequences for the gambler and his or her partner include depression, insomnia, intestinal disorders, migraine, and other stress related disorders.6 w1 In the United Kingdom, preliminary analysis of calls to the national gambling helpline also indicated that an important minority of callers reported health related consequences as a result of their gambling. These include depression, anxiety, stomach problems, and suicidal ideation.w2

Other worrying trends relate to problem gambling and may have medical consequences. A recent study found that violence against intimate partners was predicted by pathological gambling in the perpetrator.7 A study of 286 women admitted to the emergency department at a University Hospital in Nebraska showed that a woman whose partner was a problem gambler was 10.5 times more likely to be a victim of violence from her partner than partners of a non-problem gambler. Furthermore, in 2003, the National Coalition Against Legalised Gambling reported that, with the opening of casinos in South Dakota, child abuse and domestic assaults rose by 42% and 80%, respectively.8 This was attributed to the increase in casino gambling.

Gambling is without doubt a health issue, and an urgent need exists to increase awareness in the medical and health professions about gambling related problems and to develop effective strategies to prevent and treat problem gambling.2 w4 The rapid expansion of gambling represents a serious public health concern, and medical practitioners also need to research the impact of gambling on vulnerable, at risk, and special populations. Inevitably, a small minority of people will become casualties of gambling directly as a result of the deregulation of gambling in the United Kingdom, and therefore help should be provided for the problem gamblers.
