Would You Take The Addon?

Recommended Posts

I'm playing a omaha 8 rebuy tourney at the moment. Its a $5 event with 99 starters and 58 left at the 1st break. There a an add on feature on at the moment for an extra 5000 chips. It is however a rather stiff $25. Going into the break i'm chip leader with 14k chips. I'm pretty sure i'll still be near the top or near enough without taking the add on. The question is taking the add on the correct choice considering the buy in and the potential prize and the end of the tournament?

for that price i would skip it, but in general for addons that are the same price as the buyin i almost always get them

$25 for an add-on on a $5 event? Is there something i don't see here? I was dealing for a $50 tourney this weekend and the add-on was $40 for half the initial stack. At first glance, this looks like a rip-off. What's the logic behind those?

I see a couple NL tournies like that and would probably never do those add ons. I usually don't do an add on to a rebuy event if it isn't a good percentage of my stack.

For what its worth I was 3rd in chips after the break (about half the remaining folk took rebuys) and ended up 6th in the end.
