I also found myself playing 50NL or even 200NL either when tilting or feeling confident. I was up to $300 then took a bad beat hit of $100 then got up to $400 and took a bad beat hit back down to $200. Made that back into $330 then played out of my limits again at 100NL and took a beat then moved up to 200NL and got horribly runner runnered and went down to like $60. Ive made that back to $200 total playing again way out of my limits.I never tilt or play out of my limits live. Is it because it is so easy to move because a higher limit online because it is only a click away?Can someone help me with discipline, tell me something or show me someway to stay at around 10NL or 25NL for a while? Stop trying to win money so quickly. Poker is a long grind. Also stop worrying about losing. You can't win every session.Disassociate yourself from the money. Money in the cashier is not real money in my eyes. Money in the bank is real money. This will also help you act normally in real life. If I lose $1000 in an afternoon, it doesn't affect me for the rest of the day. I brush it off and move on to the next day.It all comes from experience (and making mistakes). It's just not worth it man, poker is like a ladder and if you want to get to the top you have to take it one step at a time, you cant just start trying to make leaps for the top when its not the right time, that's dangerous. I know it is my fault for playing out of my limit because beats are gonna happen. And if I was playing 10NL or 25NL I would of still had a roll to rebuy with. It just feels like Im making no money at low limits. I think I need to train myself to grind and care more about the win than about the money made. Link to post Share on other sites

Dont listen to any of these guys, you are playing fine. In fact, if tou can somehow raise a few grand I suggest you seek out durrr on ftp, go allin on flop win 5k or so and run. JSpencer 0 Posted May 23, 2009 Share Posted May 23, 2009 I use to have the exact same problem, and rectified it shortly after realizing a few steps to prevent it from happening.Each time you are about to call ask yourself what your chances of winning are. If you have Ace King suited and 10 7 6 come on the flop of a different suit, and someone raises you. 2x the pot when all you have is 1 blind inside of the pot, calling at that point is stupid and wreckless.I find the main problem comes when people get pocket aces or Ace King Suited or anything else of that ilk and become so determined to play it that regardless what happens, they call anything thrown at them. Think about Pot Odds, and live by them. Dream about them. Make love to them. They will be your best friend forever.What the hell you are doing in 25nl I have no idea. Move down son, don't shoot for the stars so soon. Playing smaller stakes will also help you cause you won't get greedy when you see all that money in the middle.Curiosity is a BITCH and it will kill you. When I was starting out, I wasted so much money on hands when I've told myself "He's probably got me beat, but maybe i'll get lucky" or "He's probably got me beat.. but it only cost X so why not?"When you get that feeling that someones got you beat, just run away..that feeling is usually right. Listen to classical music?Discipline really can't be taught...though these steps I think really help in gaining the idea of discipline and fully grasping it in your game.
