Badly Played Set Facing River Overship.

Recommended Posts

This is a hand from February I played pretty poorly. I think you guys will probably concur I should've made a larger raise on the flop and bet the turn. Only have 2 hands on this guy in my DB so he's unknown.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (4 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comHero (BB) ($10)UTG ($10.95)Button ($13.45)SB ($12.85)Preflop: Hero is BB with 7 :qh, 7 :ts1 fold, Button calls $0.10, 1 fold, Hero checksFlop: ($0.25) Q :club:, 10 :4h, 7 :3h(2 players)Hero bets $0.20, Button raises to $0.40, Hero raises to $1, Button calls $0.60Turn: ($2.25) 6 :D(2 players)Hero checks, Button checksRiver: ($2.25) 9 :5c(2 players)Hero bets $1.50, Button raises to $12.35 (All-In), Hero calls $7.40 (All-In)Total pot: $20.05 | Rake: $0.95What do you think villain's range is for shipping the river?

I concur.Range on the river is KJ, 8x (if he is bad) and bluffs. He probably has KJ most of the time though.

Do you think this is too wide then? We need 40% equity to call.

Raise pre. Barring that, bet/call flop is fine (with plans to c/r the turn). However, if we are 3-betting the flop, do it a bit bigger and for the love...bet turn. Normal opponent is not going to fool around by betting on the turn when checked to when you've 3-bet the flop. The river as played is probably bet/fold. Most villains are not going to raise-ship this river with anything weaker than a set.

Yeah I think we can take the two pairs out for sure or at least make their frequency lower.

OMG I'm never checking a set on any street. The only way we find a fold here is because we played it so poorly.
