HarryDemetriou 0
There are a number of reasons why I don't like playing online poker aside from the fact that I spend around 6-8 hours a day betting on sports and doing various other things so do not really want to spend a few more hours playing poker. However my main reasons for finding it so objectionable is more to do with the people that play rather than the style of play or increased volatility when compared to bricks and mortar play.It is mainly, however, to do with the extremely rude nature of the players.Maybe it's because they have some degree of anonimity as they can play under an anonymous handle or maybe it's because they are not face to face with their opponents? Either way I cannot for the life of me see why anyone should want to comment on a hand especially when someone has just lost a big pot.Personally I couldn't care less what someone has to say about my play but when it comes to some of the comments I have seen on sites by persons that are watching and not even at the table or not involved in a hand it really is very disgraceful behaviour. Adding insult to an injured party who has just lost a couple of grand is not appropriate behaviour and I can only hope that administrators at the various sites contnue to punish those responsible by suspending chat facilities.Perhaps this is just a sad reflection of the times as people in general these days seem to have no time for anybody else (cf Daniels Journal re: Vegas and New Year where nobody has time for anyone these days save for a few seconds at the turn of each year). 360f1 0
Couldn't agree more, Harry.Imagine some of these people making those comments in a live game? They'd be verbally pummled into submission.I love how all these "experts" try to tell everyone how to play. They'd problably fall off their chair if they knew it was you.My suggestion is to turn off the chat. Then you can take their money in peace and quiet.
Duff_Man 0
I agree. That's why I always disable the chat box when I see that there are a couple of chuckle heads yapping away. I never make any rude comments to someone who has just rivered me to take down a pot that they really had no business being in. I usually just bang my head against the wall a few times. The only comment I ever make after suffering a bad beat is "unreal" and that applies to the site (usually Party Poker) and not the other player. Anonimity is the biggest reason why you see this, people know they're safe so they can get away with running their mouths. they probably got picked on a lot in school who knows.Duff

ajs1281 0
Obviously you are playing at a different set of stakes as a vast majority of us; which leads to a large railbird following, just to live vicariously through the hands and they can pretend to have a clue as to how to play the overall game at the same level that you are on.Personally when I feel my game in on, I play 2/4 and 3/6 NL online so the swings are big but not in the thousands, but to hear about how someone made a "great" play for a few hundred bucks when they caught a 2 outer on the river is just brutal. Now I do not know how many of the problems you have are with players vs railbirds, god I hope its the rail at those levels but with people today you never know. If its the rail, take heart in the fact that most of them probably have never played a dime of poker for real money, they are the TV crowd that comes online for freerolls and play money. murphyz 0
I agree you do get a lot of idiots online, but the majority of people, I'd say 90%, are okay and respectful enough. I had one guy totally abuse me after I cracked his pocket kings with 2 pair, something like 75o. I was on the BB and if he had raised me enough I would have dropped the hand instantly, but a cheap flop was offered and I lucked out with 2 pair on the flop. Still playing cautiously, neither of out hands improved and he was all-in by the river card. Even though I had him beat on the flop he started swearing at me for, first, playing that hand and secondly for continuing to play it down to the river when he had pocket kings. This continued for about 10 minutes even though he was out of the tournament. I take it as part of the game as much as possible, and the last thing you want to do is let someone like that affect the way you play. And if an individual is so bad at it...report them. Logs of all games and chat is logged so if he has a history of abuse the site owners will ban them.Mxx
poison_lady 0
First of all I'd like to say that I love your style of play Harry. You are a class act. Poker players could learn alot from you. Being a woman and playing poker I sometimes get called all sorts of things that never really bother me to much. But last night at Poker Stars a guy named billyjoe88 kept saying how he would like to slap me down and that if he ever seen me in real life he would do just that. That really started to make me feel uncomfortable.
Ship_It 0
Personally, I don't see why anyone would want to ridicule someone elses play after they suck out. I say let the fish continue to swim around aimlessly and don't try to give him/her lessons that will improve their game and prevent you from profitting off of them later on down the road. Same goes for adding insult to injury after sucking out, thats just downright malicious and makes you a target for everyone else at the table.
rkard 0
Worst are the people who are trying to give lessons at the table, especially when they're wrong."YOU CAN'T CALL THAT I POT BET, YOU WERE 4 to 1" They're mostly guys who've just started reading their first book and feel like pro's when they share their uncomplete newfound information. Even though trying to teach your opponents how to play is.. errr.. less than optimal strategy? löl.
