But I'm sure you guys have heard that billions of times. Got my bankroll from $10 to $100 then completely hit a wall and would just consistently get sucked out on in sit and goes and such, obviously I played bad here and there and been on tables that were larger than 5% of my bankroll a couple of times. Rather depressing, now i have to deposit $50 if I am to continue, which is a bit much for a 18 year old, so I'll stay out. wanted to turn it into something big Link to post Share on other sites

Someone said they were priced in with 7 5 off in the big blind and I couldn't get away from my A Q on a Q77 flop, all usual stuff. Am registered in a large freeroll tourney and a satillite to an FTOPS event, so if my luck swings majorly, maybe i'll get some cash there. But for now I've got more worrying things to think about. Poker is not an easy game to learn, and the possibility of going bust is very for a serious amount of time, even when you get good at the game, and are a winning player.....Decide whether or not you wanna keep playing, and if you do, study hard and try to evaluate your play brutally honest. You;ll figure it out.I would suggest reading many books, getting the latest online poker software, considering subscribing to the online poker academies, and completely dedicate yourself to winning. Einstein said "it's not that I am smarter than everyone else, it's that I am willing to stay with problems longer." Much of poker doesn't have to do with general games skils but personal skills like avoiding even the slightest of tilt and keeping superior money management and bankroll management skills. antistuff 0 Posted April 30, 2009 Share Posted April 30, 2009 poker is not a fast track to easy money. it takes a lot of time, dedication, and hard work. to achieve even the moderate success that i have i've had to sacrifice things. it has put a lot of pressure and stress on my relationship with my girlfriend. from the tone of your post you seem like you maybe enjoy playing a little recreationaly. and thats fine. i'll gamble with the worst of it for fun. sometimes you can find me in a casino playing blackjack. the thing is though i'm playing for $5 or $10 a hand because thats what i feel comfortable losing. now in a poker game where i have the best of it i will sit with and toss around a lot of money (especially live, when i get to play live i usually play bigger than i can really afford to). but notice there i said i have the best of it. if you like playing poker then play. its fun. if you want to put in the work to be a successful winning player consider this: i liken the past five years ive spent playing to having gone to college to learn how to do something. it was that much work. i will also say that i'm lucky in that i seem to be good at this. most people will fail. you'll hear estimates that 10% of people are winners. i think the number is closer to 3% or 4%.this is a bit rambly but i hope you find it helpful. gamble for fun or with the best of it. you're way too young to start down an ugly cycle of degeneracy. That's what really hurts,sadly it really does. im still going to school. while i enjoy my success and the freedom and easy money lifestyle i have now i feel that if i pursued this all the way no matter how much money i made it would do nothing but wreak havok on my life. i think a job that you like and poker on the side is the way to go, for me at least. Not everyone is able to to make a lot of money so young. It also depends so much on where they live. I also had a job at 14.OP is just lazy... highschool or not.i had a job when i was 14 too. i worked one day after school and weekends. i made about $90 a week. when i was 18 or so i got a job at home depot which was my highest paying job yet at the time. i made $10 an hour. remember that in nyc when you look at your paycheck you find about 1/3 of it missing. $50 still wasn't monopoly money.
