Just felt like sharing an update, things are going and growing slowly but surely. We have two nights per week going now with 4 tournaments per week. Our average turnout is 25 - 35 per event now.Have 2 more new weekly nights hopefully coming within the next 45 days which will add 4 more tournaments per week.Got my first website advertisement commercial done, not sure if this facebook works for everyone, but hopefully it does ....http://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video...id=324538784667Would love feedback on that. Can't remember if I had Budweiser as a sponsor before when I posted last, but they are on board now which is awesome, they are not only giving me their name, but also doing advertisements in my locations as well as additional prize giveaways. Here is a crappy camera phone image I took ....22635_261230204904_786874904_3042781_3922748_n.jpgAnywho, just wanted to update people cause FCP has just about everything to do with me being able to start this business.
It's great to see this blossoming successfully and your efforts getting rewarded. Here's hoping for continued success.

  • Up to 3 nights per week now, hosting 6 games per week.
  • Have a total of 2,131 player 'buy-in's to date.
  • Picked up Bud Light and The Riviera Hotel & Casino as new sponsors.
  • Next Monday will be tournament #100 which is a pretty awesome milestone to celebrate.
  • First grand prize tournament will be this May 1st where I will be sending the winner to Las Vegas to stay for 4 days, 3 nights and buy them into a 2 Day WSOP Academy course.
  • Adding a quarterly $300 real cash money tournament each quarter after May 1st.

I think this was how Steve Wynn started out.

Couple updates as we approach the end of my first full year of this bar poker business.

  • Hit one of my biggest goals which was to have a game running 7 nights per week and starting Friday January 7th I will officially have a game running 7 nights a week.
  • Running 16 tournaments per week across 3 locations although it looks like I'm probably going to kill one of the duplicate nights as turnout has not been great.
  • Have had approximately 7,500 player 'buyins' to date
  • Just hit our 400th unique player yesterday.
  • Up to 3 tournament director employees plus myself
  • Company will indeed show a profit this year which was obviously a main goal for 2010.
  • Picked up a nice major radio station sponsor and working on a few other major sponsors that will boost my league big time if I can close.
  • Revenue goal for 2011 has been raised from original business plan projections from $23,000 to $30,000.

I realize no one probably cares about any of this anymore, but I update this more for me than you so suck it! :)Got 1 day of poker left for this year and I've found myself becoming quite complacent and content. I've really maximized what I can do in my little cornered area and unless I want to branch out into other areas then I'm pretty much stagnant. I originally wanted to grow this huge, but now I'm not sure and again have become content just having fun 'playing with my friends.'I ended up voluntarily closing a couple of my outer area venues that were not getting the traffic I wanted and have been focusing on the area in which I live. Here are some updates as of 12/29/2011
  • Running 14 games per week, 6 days per week, across 3 venues
  • Have ran right at 1,150 tournaments
  • Currently have 3 employees, was up to 4 at one point until I closed one of my venues. I currently only run 6 games per week myself and have hired TD's to run my other 8.
  • Have had 945 unique players play in my league
  • Have had nearly exactly 22,000 unique 'buy-ins' in my league
  • Picked up Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino as a nice sponsor which gives a free casino weekend for 2 every 3 months to my quarterly winners.
  • CRUSHED my 2011 revenue goal (which was originally raised from $23,000 to $30,000). Looks like revenue will end up around $41,000 for the year.
  • I will post some 2012 goals soon, but I actually expect my revenue to stabilize or even decrease a little unless I look to expand to other cities or do some major advertising investing.

Some stats I found interesting:

  • Of the 945 unique players, 471 only played 1 day which basically means a little over half the people that play in my league never return. This is an awesome stat to know and learn from. If I can get more one time players to become repeat customers then that is GOLD
  • My 'best customer' has played 779 out of my 1,150 tournaments which is an INSANE statistic. He is 70 years old :club:
  • We have had 2 royal flushes (that i know about) in my league.
  • We had 1 player literally win 3 quarterly championship tournaments in a row (out of hundreds of players). He won 2 quarterly trips to Horseshoe and the Grand prize to Vegas. sick sick feat

Guess that is about it for now.PEACE!

End of Q1 2012 Update as of 3/29/2012

  • Running 16 games per week, 7 days per week, across 4 venues
  • Have ran 1,362 tournaments to date
  • Currently have 4 full time directors and 2 part time directors
  • Have had 1,081 unique players play in my league
  • Added Bad Beat Jackpot promotion
  • Added Referral Program promotion
  • Met 1st Quarter Revenue Goal

Guess that is about it for now.

Howdy strangers!

Have I told you how much I love this thread? I can look back to my first post in April 2009 when this was just an idea and see how far this idea has come and how everyone here had some input and ideas that helped this league become what it is today.

Several weeks ago we shot our first league introduction 'commercial' and published it yesterday.

Would love to hear your thoughts and yes I'm a big boy and can take criticism and redneck comments :)
