strappazon 0
Okay, i'm not that stupid so i know this is the best position. And i know why. But i've read a lot of poker books (by Brunson, Hellmuth,etc..) and they all say this is the place where you should play the more hand. but as a TAG player...i need a good hand to enter the pot! I'm not gonna limp in with 7-2o or 83o just because i have a great position !So generally i'm gonna limp in with a small pair or suited connectors and i'll raise if i have a strong hand. But it doesn't happen very often. What am i supposed to do ? Should i force myself to play looser just cuz i have position on others players ?I don't know if it could help but here are my VP$IP at all position (this is for cash games) :
trystero 0
Unless the blinds are very weak you probably shouldn't be stealing or raising with total trash like 72o or 84o.The advantage of position in weak/passive games is that you can run your opponents over. In general, they are very predictable, playing their hands straightforwardly and contributing to the pot in proportion to the perceived strength of their hand. Given this, and given the fact that they probably will NOT hit the flop, you should make isolation raises from the button. How would you normally handle this situation? You're dealt 8c7c OTBMP limpsfolds to youDo you limp behind or raise? You should raise here to isolate the limper and bet a bunch of flops - he'll probably just fold. This way you have multiple ways to win the pot other than just hitting the flop - you can win it preflop, if he folds, or on the flop, if he folds; or you can actually make a hand and control the pot size in position - e.g. keep it smaller when you only have a pair, and pump it up when you've made a straight.Bad players have a thousand leaks. One of them is limp/calling preflop, so take advantage of that.
antistuff 0
the button is easyyou hit the raise buttonsee button -> raise buttonlike that
Solar 0
Your action pre flop should be raise far more often than call. As for the button, there are heaps of hands you can play. Some will play hands as weak as 85s or 89o regularly. Just keep raising plenty of potentially good hands on the button. Keep applying pressure to the blinds and limpers until they start playing back at you when you can adjust.Bear in mind also that that is a fairly small sample of hands. SpatsJ 0
imo on the button you should generally fold rags but open your range a bit. like trystero's hypothetical situation the 87s might not be a hand you'd usually play but a raise on the button is the right move to take down the pot pf. you're right to fold 74 etc in any position (most of the time) unless you're in the bb and all checks to you.
