Name Change Pokerstars Is Being Dumb

Recommended Posts

Okay so I wanted to change my screen name because my screen names on PS and FT contain my first and last name or initials. I had a few threats from players and realized I would feel better not having my name as my user name. So I asked for a change.FT was more than happy to grant the change instantly.PS will not do the change and I dont see a reason why. They said cuz of my stats and stuff would be gone. But I rarely played online before so my old stats are irrelevent and not the reason I want a name change.Im kind of thinking of opening a new 2nd account but I dont want it to get closed. What should I do?Keep emailing support and hounding them?Is there a way to close out your PS account totally?

What's ridiculous is OP using his first and last name in his SN to begin with. But yea Stars is usually pretty cool about this stuff just keep bugging them about it.I kept bugging them about wanting to change my avatar pic even though I'd already done it twice which is the max amount you're allowed. They kept giving me the standard answer of how it's policy to not let players change their pic as often as they want and what not.I kept sending them pics of my dog which is what I wanted as my new avatar and telling them he brought me good luck. They finally said they'd make an exception and complied. :club:

I did email back saying I like poker stars but the support is not helpful. I would hate to quit over this etc etc. Hopefully they dont send the standard response again.

Threats?
Yes please elaborate on threats. Are you getting emails from people or are people just talking shit in chat? If they are talking shit in chat then you are being a little bit paranoid. But either way I agree that they should let you change names.

People from other random forums that are non poker. Knew my user name from a random poker hand thread and they tried to hack my facebook, emails etc. Although they were unsuccesful and have given up I dont want it to happen again. Just a precaution.

lol @ exception, they let me and pretty much everyone I know change it at will as long as you don't do it constantly.

I don't get the rules about avatars. What's the big deal to change it every now and then?
Hello Victor,Thank you for your email. One of the ideas behind images at PokerStars is that they will helpidentify you to other players at the table (similar to User ID). If weallow for constant changes, it will take away from this idea.We understand that when a player first selects their image, they mightnot give it much thought. This is why we allow one change. However, inthis case we can make an exception. I have updated your accountprivileges so you may change your image one more time.To change your image, please select "Account" > "Select/Change Image"atthe top of the main lobby. Please let us know if we can assist you further, and thanks for playingat PokerStars!Regards,AndersPokerStars Support Team

Ya FT let me change it instantly. But PS has emailed me back and forth like 5 times and they pretty much repeat the same garbage. I told me to forward it to a supervisor or someone who can actually help. Plus told them that FT lets people with good reasons change their names, so FT has better service etc etc.

Ya whatever it takes to get it changed. I dont care if they hate me.Also I may have made progress as I told them to forward it to a supervisor. They told me they forwarded it to people who handle account changes. They could be screwin around or actually helping me. Ill update when i recieve another email.

Apparently the multiple emails and asking them for a supervisor and telling them FT did it finally worked. Here is the email they sent and I created a new account and I sent it to them. Just waiting for everything to get transferred. Should be done in a few days hopefully.Email:Thank you for contacting PokerStars Support. Please note that your email has been forwarded to me as the senior escalation point within PokerStars Support at this time. At the outset, let me say that PokerStars takes a very strict stance on changing User IDs. In an ideal world, there would be no changing of PokerStars User IDs, just as it is not normally feasible to change your identity when playing in live poker games. That said, we accept that there will, very rarely, be situations where it is reasonable to allow such a User ID change. We are willing to allow you to change your User ID on this occasion. I have granted your account the appropriate privileges, so please follow these steps: 1) Open the PokerStars program. If you already had it opened and were logged in, close the PokerStars software down and restart it. 2) Select 'Account', and then 'Create Account' from the PokerStars lobby. 3) Follow the on-screen instruction to create a new User ID. Be *VERY* careful about selecting your new User ID - we do not envisage allowing you to change your User ID again. 4) Email us and let us know that you have changed User IDs, and we will transfer your balance of real money and Frequent Player Points to your new account. This is very unusual, so we expect that there will be no future situation which would require a further User ID change - please be very careful with your selection. As a consequence of this User ID change, you will lose access to records like hand histories and financial data. Thanks for your cooperation, and please let us know if there is anything else that we can do to assist you. Regards, PokerStars Support Team
