2 Episodes in so far. Pretty bad. It's like Hell's Kitchen, but not entertaining. I can hardly believe it's an hour long, it doesn't seem like anything happens besides people making bad food, then someone giving up at the end and sending themselves home.I wanted it to be good.

When I saw that this was hosted by one of the chefs Ramsey trained under I had really high hopes. I watched until the first challenge when they made 'em select and unload their grocery list from trucks in 15 minutes and I decided they are setting these people up to fail and tuned out.

Linkage?
I will see if I can find it, it's been a long time since I read it. But it's been a pretty long feud between these two. If I remember when Ramsey left to start his own he took the reservation book and called the customers to come to his place. lol

The antipathy between Pierre White and Ramsay dates back to the Eighties, when a novice Ramsay worked for Pierre White at Harvey's in Wandsworth. It is said Ramsay was reduced to tears by his volatile boss.Later, Ramsay admitted stealing the reservations book from Aubergine in Fulham in 1998, where he was then head chef, and blaming it on his former mentor. The pair have sniped at each other ever since.
Just do a search on google for White and Ramsay and you have plenty of stuff to read about this 20 year long feud.

in canada they showed the UK version of hell's kitchen hosted by this guy. He worked with B-list and washed up celebrities from the UK none of which knew how to cook. Needless to say, the show was nothing like hell's kitchen, pretty lame and well, pathetic. Now he is actually trying to bring another restaurant show from the UK to the US. (this is actually alot like Last restaurant standing) I typically love these types of shows, but this guy is just not good enough to do them. He really doesn't have enough personality.

i watched a few bits of his "hell's kitchen" and wasn't impressed - no screaming, no yelling, no swearing....all he ever did was if a customer complained he had their table cleared and had them escorted out, even when the complaint was legit like raw meat - don't think he was evening checking anything that went out of the kitchen

Chopping block? You mean Chopped, the Food Network show with Ted Allen? I think it's a pretty good show, I like the idea of making them use certain bizarre ingredients as it forces them to be creative. I think they should have more time though, perhaps give them 5 minutes before each course to think about what they want to make before they are allowed to start cooking. That way they have a chance to be more inventive.

i agree, but since i've invested time in 3 episodes, i'll end up watching them all.....really, it's just like driving by a car wreck, you know it's probably bad, but you still have to look.

like i said, the shoes with every outfit at least give a chuckle (i didn't think they still made those ones)and i found this, i agree, that should be on ppv...think a lot of ppl would watch even for say $99.99[From The National Enquirer print version, March 23, 2009] Here’s an idea for a new reality show - let’s have these two locked in a kitchen for a week and just let them beat the hell out of each other! The winner gets to keep the title of “U.K.’s crankiest chef.” Once they get tired of the fighting, maybe they’d make some amazing dishes. I’d call it “Kitchen Cage Match.”

Everytime I come here I see this topic and think of the Food Network Show Chopped. I actually enjoy that one. From now on, even though you will be discussing The Chopping Block, I will discuss Chopped.

Are you deliberately ripping off my bit? (see post #11 above)
