James D 0
Fair enough! I apologize for missing the loan to Blackburn! Move along, nothing to see here! There may be nothing to see in this case... but I'm still taking him to Court for trying to illegally "tap up" my players. My chairman says he saw him having a drink with Fernando Torres in what the Daily Mirror described simply as a 'hotel bar'.Reports that they later went upstairs together are, as yet, unconfirmed. Jam-Fly 8
Are we going to get right into picking subs once Rd 11 is done? When will we pick a manager? Any thoughts?Yeah, I'm happy to get straight into picking 7 subs, with a mandatory Goalkeeper sub (ie 6 outfield subs, 1 goalkeeper sub).Don't like the idea of a manager. We are the managers in a sense. Also, if you take a manager like David Moyes (who, imo is one the top 5 managers in the history of the EPL), how well would he do with a top club? He has done great with Everton, but who is to say he would work as well with super star players? Also, what about a manager like Harry Redknapp. One of his big strengths is in the transfer market, is that skill deemed non-applicable for our draft? Personally I don't think the idea of managers would work well.Oh, btw, Gareth Barry is a good pick. The poor mans Stevie G :PSteve Finnan is a good pick. There's a certain other Irish right-back I may have favoured though (it's uber close though) - (and it's not the OTHER Irish right-back) -- (and it's not Denis Irwin I'm talking about, the two I'm talking about haven't been picked) Hmmm, will make alot more sense when if I could include name
LJB723 0
Real Jamborino has the best media department anyway. I don't think James could ever claim Gael Clichy is world class with a straight face...

I don't think James could ever claim Gael Clichy is world class with a straight face...their self publicity is certainly something to marvel at, i love clichy's engine and pace but there is no way he is world class yet - i dont think i'm giving too much away but i dont think he is even arsenal's best full back. mrpaddyx 13
The mind games have begun!!!! I've been on the clock for my 11th pick since 10:20 am and no-one has let me know (thats you i'm looking at Real Jambarino!) i'm next.

I hope you're joking... he was named Arsenal's 2nd best player last season... and was in the 2007/08 PFA Team of the Year for Christ's sake. There's two (both surnames beginning with the letter 'S') that you might be thinking of. If so, that's crazy, KARAAAZEEE talk.
Mercury69 3
lol @ "Cashley Cole"And a question...Are we diving right into the "reserve" draft, same order? I'd like to think so...I pick last this round and first next round...

Jam-Fly 8
OK, so its sorted, 7 more picks each (one of which MUST be a GK) to give a squad of 18.just a few things, we are not neccesarily picking 7 subs, just 7 more players. So like, if you actually want one of your next 7 palyers to be on the starting line-up, that's fine. Obviously this won't happen but just in case people do.Also bear in mind, we are picking a squad that will judged on how well it would play over the course of a season. This means things like injury are taken count. So if you have a few players who have an average of 20 games a season, it might be an idea to pick a good replacement for them, as the replacement will likely get quite a bit of game time.I'll make a redraw for the subs rounds, just for the hell of it

James D 0
OH SNAP!It's time to get nasty, gentlemen. In it to win it!!!That reminds me, with all this talk of subs... don't you think it's fair to let LJB pick first this round? I mean, the poor guy has clearly misunderstood the rules and has already picked his full quota of substitutes.

Jam-Fly 8
Hmmm, I'd have 2nd pick if we keep the way it is, so now I'm not that inclined to changing it. Also, it is kinda fairer if we leave it because then everything is fair right from the start. But WTF, who cares, we'll have a random draw. Anyone wana have a random draw for every round? Here it is for round 1 of subs picks anyway... 6, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 One more thing about the subs. Don't forgot about player morality. Certain players don't like sitting on the bench most of the season, you have to facot in how these players will affect the overall team spirit. Also, some players are more effective as impact substitutes (one player immediately springs to mind ), so just because X is a better footballer than Y, it still might be more beneficial having Y on the bench.Oh yeah also, this is important Before commencing our substitutes picks, please make a post in the picks thread of "Starting 11 analysis". This post is important because it allows you to talk about your team as a whole, as opposed to player by player. You can present your post whatever way you like, but try to include most of the following: 1) Value Of Picks - pick by pick, who was good value eg, Klinsmann is good value because I think he is better than Sheringham and Torres who were picked before him...Roy Keane is a good pick because I believe a great central midfielder is better than a great striker, that is why I picked Keane instead of Cantana, etc.), Basically, a pick by pick analysis of your team, and why you picked certain players when you did.2) Tactics of your team - How your team will line up, the formation you will play, how you plan to attack (passing game, long ball, grind down the opposition, etc.), why your defence will succeed against opposition attacks, how your team will attack set pieces, how your team will defend set pieces etc. 3) Team name, Squad numbers, Captain, Vice Captain and Set Piece Takers - Assign a squad number to each player, nominate a captain and vice-captain, and (if you haven't already in your tactics) say who will take your free kicks (long + short) and corner kicks and penalties.4) Statistics of your team - Number of medals, appearances, goals, assists (EPL only, Champions League appearances etc. don't matter all that much), goal-game ratios, player of the season awards, young player of the season awards, international caps, etc. I'm sure I've left out other stats you could include.5) Anything else you want to tell us about your team! This post is super important and I reccommend putting a bit of time into it. When the subs are all picked, we will make a "Squad analysis" post. These "Starting 11 analysis" and "Squad analysis" will serve as the main pieces of info on which to judge our teams. Basically, if we do (and we prob will) ask some footy experts to judge our teams, these posts will be the main criteria for them to judge on. It is a bit unreasonable to ask them to read 20+ pages of Picks and discussion, so instead we can present them with these info-packed summaries of our team and tactics. LJB723 0
Mercury, Southgate as your captain? When your team contains 2 previous captains of England? And neither of them are even your vice-captain. Interesting...Oh and Hedman
Mercury69 3
Mercury, Southgate as your captain? When your team contains 2 previous captains of England? And neither of them are even your vice-captain. Interesting...Oh and Hedman Got curious, of course: My team has 4 who have captained England at least once > Becks (59), Shearer (34), Owen (8) and Campbell (3). Additionally, both Barry and SOuthgate have worn the armband, but are not officially recognized, having been given the armband during the course of the match. Seaman was also a rotational captain from 1997-2000, while Shearer was captain.I did actually think about this a bit. First, the selection leaves Shearer and Becks to play without the added responsibility. Second, it puts a firm anchor of influence in the defensive corps. Third, I thought it'd be a lark to have two guys names Gareth as captain and vice-captain :-).

I agree with your choice too, I don't care if Becks and Shearer have more caps as captain, I'd prefer Southgate to have the armband.Oh btw, I'll be posting my team selection and tactics etc last please. That way, I have a chance to see what formations and other useless stuff you minions will come up with, then I'll formulate a plan of attack from there! Mwhahaha! Also, Real Jamborino are on an off season money spinning tour of Asia right now anyway... we're doing pretty well, we've won all of our 3 matches so far and Cantona's only been sent off 4 times so far so that's pretty good.
