Vegas Or Atlantic City?

Recommended Posts

Here is the deal. At the last minute (thankfully before I signed the lease tomorrow) half of my group for Spring Break backed out on our beach trip. This leaves the rest of us hanging since we all cant afford the house on our own. Thus, the trip has been canceled. I am trying to decided between Vegas and Atlantic City. On one hand, I love Vegas, but Atlantic City would be a third of the price, and the WSOP circuit is up there next week. I have no idea what I am going to do. Any opinions/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The thing is, I have been to Vegas a couple of times. I have never been to Atlantic City. Since this is such short notice, my options are somewhat limited. Is it really worth paying the extra to go to Vegas?

If you've already been to Vegas a couple times, then try Atlantic City this time. Atleast you will know next time. Ive never been to Atlantic City but if you plan on spending most of your time playing poker, to me a casino is a casino.

Ever thought of going down south to somewhere like Shreveport, LA? Close distance to some riverboats plus there is more to do and you beat the heat and humidity of the summer.
The problem is that is an extra six hours of driving.

I would say Atlantic city. It's cheaper. And if you dont want to play cards at some point you can go to the board walk and laugh at the hobos. The "beach" sucks so dont get your hopes up about that part. I second the hooker comment, unless your into really really :club: trashy women. Lastly most of the people in Atlantic city are pricks. other than that not a bad place to play cards.

this guy has only posted twice in three and a half years; think about it, he felt strongly enough about this to post something. FOR THE SECOND TIME EVER. and he's right; it's not close..... and in this market, there are places in Vegas that are giving rooms away and those places are nicer than the discounted places in ACthe flight might be more, but really, even with a small dollar difference why not get the better and more memorable spring break

I went to Atlantic City last year for the first time just because I'd never been. And now I don't have to go back.I'd never seen trash three feet deep under a poker table before. And the people just accepted it as normal. The funny thing is, that I was on the phone and told the person I was talking to that the filth of the place was a little shocking. ... Some local at the table was eavesdropping and got all offended. As they turned to me to rebut what I'd said, they kicked one of those styrofoam food boxes that someone had stashed under the table and knocked over a half-finished that was under the chair next to them. Atlantic City is poetic in that way.

If you DO go to Atlantic City though...might I suggest "Bare Essentials". It's walking distance from the "main strip" if you could call it that. And it's BYOB, which is sweet, cause who wants to have to buy expensive drinks at a strip club. You can bring a couple cases of beer and they will give you a giant tub of ice to keep it in. They had surprisingly good girls, went for my bachelor party. It's no Spearmint Rhino but it's not the hit in the face with a brick type girls you might expect in Atlantic City.Just beware locals, travel in groups, and don't walk the streets with a ton of cash on you.

That must be one hella-expensive house that half of you couldn't afford it. I guess your not planning on doing much gambling, since you don't have any money. I say stay home and play micro-stakes online, that's your cheapest bet.Assumming 6 nights, and just guessing on number of friends:Group of 8, house cost $2,000 = $250/person.Group of 4, $500/person.Vegas - airfare $250+, room $19/night at Golden Gate, hookers $300, alcohol $100, gambling money $1,000 = $1,700+AC - airfare $250+, room $33/night at Trop, hookers $200, alcohol $100, gambling money $1,000 = $1,700+Spring break - airfare $250, room $500, alcohol $25, free sex with hot co-eds, no gambling $ = $775+Staying at home playing micros - $100/weekmy 2 cents

i'm not the paranoid type, but seriously, this. i go there all the time and do not find yourself wandering around at 4 in the morning with 5k in your pocket. im actually a fan of the whole "trashy" thing, but ive been in a few situations down there with people that made me feel uncomfortable. it seemed like they were feeling me out to see if it was a good idea to blackjack me and grab my cash or something.

Comparing Vegas to Atlantic City is like comparying Jessica Alba to Kathy Liebert. No matter what the cost(and in this case it seems minimal) you cant justify spending a night with Kathy Liebert over Jessica Alba.Unless you are gay.IMO
