what is the quickest way to build up 1000 bucks real quick? are the 12/180 turbos to variance heavy to grind for a couple weeks? should I play 4.40's? My laptop just died and I need a new one majorly for school. I have about 1600 in my pokerstars account, but that money was gonna go to other things (rent/books) any advice for a poor college student?

1000 bucks? You buy expensive laptops. I'd withdraw as much as the absolute bonus for first timer's max is, deposit that there, and bonus whore. depending on how many games you play you can be multi'ing 4.40's on stars and grinding out the bonus on AP.I say AP > Full tilt for this plan b/c AP is way quicker on the withdraws.

anything more than $600 is excessive.Pokerinc has the right idea though.. Cash games, esp on AP/Cake/FT etc is the way to go. Tourneys aren't historically a steady source of income (although you can get your laptop money overnight lol).

The fastest way to build up $1000 is to play the highest stakes of your bread and butter game. I don't think the question can be answered any other way. For some people, .05/.10 will be the fastest to make 1000.00, for others it'll be 55.00 tournies. For some, it'll be RailHeaven. Can't really answer without knowing your skill level.

$600 is excesive for a laptop? what kind of craptastic machine are you buying?
For the target audience of the post: A college student with definite financial concerns, $600 is about as much as you'd want/need/be able to pay for a laptop. You'll get a 15 inch screen, a combo CD/DVD RW drive.. 250 gigs of HD space, a hefty enough stick of RAM, etc...The "screaming" machines are mainly geared toward CAD and high-end gaming. And let's face it, buying a laptop for high end gaming isn't the best approach in the first place. :club:

I would recommend withdrawing all the money you need for rent/school/books/laptop and then grind out whatever is left. Don't try to make $1000 quick and end up going bust and not having the money you need. Even if it cleans your bankroll out completely, you can always build back up through freerolls or small deposit after you make some more money.I think its wise to use money to pay bills, buy food, etc, before using it as poker money.I don't play with any money that I couldn't afford to lose, and that is the smartest way to do it.GL either way

hey first post ever, joined about 20 minutes ago, and i just read this. I dont wanna step on any toes here just my opinion. When i first read this i laughed and thought to myself i wish i had 40K to go and do that, but then i thought what if i got called, had rags and lost 40k, trying to win 1000$ to buy an over priced labtop. lol i wonder what the odds of sitting down at a high stakes table and pushing first hand and getting called is? im guessing the odds of having a premium hand that you would push 40k out there in the middle first hand arent that good. Could be a good way of making a quick 1K but on the other hand you could lose some money and look like a fool at the same time.
