According to WIS-TV, the party took place on the University of South Carolina campus at Blossom Street, near the Five Points area.According to court records, the person associated with that address is a friend of Phelps and a professional poker player. He was charged with marijuana possession on Saturday.The station is reporting that the eight people were arrested on charges related to marijuana. Phelps has not been charged.WIS-TV also reported that the owner of the bong tried to sell the item on eBay for about $100,000.Phelps lost a sponsorship deal with Kellogg's cereal after he admitted using the pipe and apologized for the incident. USA Swimming also suspended Phelps for three months because of the incident.The Richland County Sheriff's Office declined comment to WBAL TV 11 News on Tuesday, citing the pending investigation. He was charged with marijuana possession on Saturday.On Jim Rome's radio show yesterday, there were reports from those at the party that Phelps was involved in a "high-stakes" beer pong game in which he took out a roll of bills totaling about $2k which he then lost. This prompted Jim to ask what kind of college students carry $2k cash around and he concluded that they had to be (1) trust fund kids, (2) drug dealers or (3) bookies. I was thinking that he left out professional poker players in college so this report makes sense. Phelps apparently is a huge poker fan and also played and cashed in a circuit event at Caesar last year IIRC.WIS-TV also reported that the owner of the bong tried to sell the item on eBay for about $100,000.I wonder if this auction provided the info that the police needed to track down the owner and those arrested Link to post Share on other sites
