It depends on who is going to go for it and play in a lot of events. We know that DN is definately going to play in a lot, so he is a favorite. With the run of final tables that Ivey is on it would be hard to be against him. The only problem with Ivey is that I don't know if he is going to play in very many events. He is all about the cash and the world series tournaments arent going to offer him as much as the side game. I honestly dont know about Mizrachi because I have no clue how he is at any non-holdem game. I guess my prediction would be Ivey if he plays in a lot of events. If not, I would guess DN, Juanda, or Forrest would be my picks as the favorites.

Petoria 0
Marcel Luske. He always brings his "A" game to the WSOP, and he's on fire this year. Making alot of final tables.

deviper 0
Ivey is my pick, every time there is a big tournament it seems like hes making the final table. Hopefully by WSOP 05 he'll have all those 2nd and 3rd place finishes out of his system.

ajs510 122
Overly arrogant people get annoying after a very short amount of time. I'd have thought that would have been obvious.
Ktiger48 0
Mizrachi is my pick also, kid is red hot right now.I see that a lot of people are picking mizrachi. Does anyone know how he is any games besides hold em? I know he is on fire with holdem tournaments now, but I have never heard anything about his success in other games. I think he will surely make some final tables in holdem events, but to be player of the year he is going to have to do well in other events as well.
CodyHartman 0
The person that comes to mind for me first is Jesus. IMHO he has a real shot at it.Of course Ivey is red hot right now, but according to Barry the side game action may take away from what he accomplishes at the WSOP.I hope that Daniel comes away from these HU matches focused and prepared to battle. If he puts his mind to it, like we all know he will, and the cards fall he could repeat. But his last few tournies have not gone well.I also like Juanda and Tuan's chances, but I am not sure of how Le plays in games other then NLHE. JJ is always tough though but we haven't heard much about him lately either. There is my top five though, well if you count Tuan but I don't think i'd bet too much on him.Co-D

I think he will surely make some final tables in holdem events, but to be player of the year he is going to have to do well in other events as well.Of the 42 WSOP events, 26 of them are Hold Em events. Mizrachi is eligible to enter 23 of these (inelegible for the Casino Employee, Senior, and Ladies tournaments). On his way to winning player of the year in '04, DN won 1 event, and finished in the money 5 times. In which events, you might ask? Every single money finish was in Hold Em. Just food for thought, only playing Hold Em (and I have no idea if that's all Mizrachi plays at a world class level) isn't necessarily a disadvantage.***EDIT*** - Oops, I missed a cash, he had 6 total, and one of them was an Omaha event. Sorry.

Jdawg1142 0
I think it will be either ivey, hellmuth, brunson (i don't care about his age he can still play!!) maybe daniel ifhe stops getting caught up with the media.... Tuan Le won't do it it is over 42 events he won't get lucky all the time....
TJ_Eckleburg 0
Mizrachi's definitely hot right now and he's a trendy pick for POTY, but I think you've got to give an edge to Erick Lindgren or Phil Ivey. Of the players that are hot right now, they're probably the most consistent big winners of the last 5 years.
