I would not have minded seeing Ben go. He really annoys me. Talks a ton of trash but hasn't really backed much of it up but for a couple times in challenges. Off hand I can't think of a dinner service where he ever shined like Patricia and Davey have. Anastasia is just worthless. That girl should have been one of the first 4 kicked off the show but I still would not be surprised if she made it to the final. I don't think this show always puts up the obvious best of the bunch as the final 2, because it is just a TV show. They don't actually ever really end up getting the restaurant anyway. Probably because the truth is noone in their right mind would give most of these gumps a million dollar restaurant.Yes I know that is not their real names

Sigh. GG Bobby.
Yeah that really sucked :ts Andrea has 9 lives.. it pisses me off
If they don't make the final 2 then Chef Ramsay is playing favorites with Andrea or Ben for some reason.. because they are both (Paula & Danny) strong, organized and barely ever mess up during service. There were other people WAY more deserving than Andrea that left that show already.
Wow, 2 out to injury this season - I'll miss Robert and I think Ji had a good shot at it.At the elimination I was laughing cause it was the same in season 2 when Virginia won a bye for elimination and didn't go (but Ramsay gave her the option).Q & I were laughing at Andrea actually owning up in her personal tv time that she was screwed during service - for once she actually didn't blame everyone else. Maybe we all need to become religious and start praying to all higher beings that Andrea go home already. :club:

My buddy came up with a solid theory for Gordon's frame of mind in his decision making:He wants kitchen command, receptiveness to instruction, and a degree of youth. One could definitely make the argument that most past shocking late-game eliminations were based on this criteria:

Ralph

obviously could cook up a storm and lead any kitchen, but was too long in the tooth to suit Gordon's prototype.

Keith

obviously lacked in all 3 of these categories to some degree, but mostly was lacking

Virginia's

Ta-Tas.

Petroza

had a really smart and intriguing final meal, grew more probably than any contestant in HK history, going from

Hen in a Pumpkin

to the finals.. Again... too old to fit Gordon's prototype, and that fact, more than

Christina's

varying degree of ability sealed his fate.I think

Giovanni

, who obviously could control a kitchen and take instruction, got the axe mainly because he doesn't fit into the Gordon prootype for protege. I'm not saying it's concrete or anything, but it's an intersting talking point as to the selection process and what really enter's Gordon's mind.

Interesting decision. I guess this cements Paula and Danny as the final two. To be honest it didn't matter to me the order the other two left in anyway, and I don't like either of them so I'm not bothered that Ben went first.

Right.....still can't believe Angela is still there, even though it doesn't matter.

This doesn't cement anything. The final two have, for the most part, never been the best final two. I HOPE it is Danny and Paula but I said it each week, it would not surprise me one bit if Andrea makes it to the final 2. It's rarely ever been about a culmination of performances more than that particular service and if she comes strong for one more night over P & D she will get to the final.

I don't know what Chef sees in Andrea that he keeps letting her stay.. I think he is going to screw Danny. He seems to have a preference for female winners
Yeah I agree with this but im rooting for Danny. It's not like Paula doesn't deserve it though.

It's amazing how Paula has turned it around from the first few weeks of the season. ACtually though it may not be she turned it around just that carol and andrea were so loud and vocal early on that it just had paula under the radar. I too would like to see Paula and Danny in the finals. I have a feeling it will be danny vs andrea because it would make for an easier decision of who would win in the finals.

I seriously thought Danny was going home. Really glad chef made the right decision. Gotta say Paula is really growing something on me. Like a boner.
FYPPaula's strugeon dish was exactly what the doctor ordered. I think they hated Danny's dish because it was too mainstream and ordinary, but you can't fault him when you're prepping 100 dishes for a crowd whose demographic is a mystery. And Andrea is not a bad chef, it's just that she was inconsistent and prone to getting flustered. Also, her consistent attacking on Scott (?) was kind of gross when you think about it: Scott was sabotaging on orders from Ramsey and there would be minimal sabotaging, yet Andrea acted as if everthing coming off his station was messed up (probably wasn't) on purpose.

Pretty much my thoughts after just watching it. I am glad he decided to not bring Angela along for the ride. I am happy with either of them winning this thing.

I agree 100% on both accounts.. I thought Danny was done.. It was his first bad performance, and I would have hated to see him go because of it..Yes I do agree Andrea can come up with some reaolly good dishes, but in servce she is horrible. As much as I want Danny to win this thing.. It seems like it will be Paula and she deserves it

I kept thinking Danny was gonna get screwed hard like Keith did in Season II. Thankfully wasn't the case. Even being unneccessarily overbearing, Andrea was the only one worth 2 poops expediting. She may have actually got hosed, but only because they couldn't take 3 into the finals.Honestly. even though it's logistically impossible, a 3 chef showdown might have been the way to go.. and I'm saying that *hating* Andrea passionately.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was kind of surprised. I would've been happy either way, and I still am. It just seems like the losing contestant had a little less "swingy" performance. Maybe Chef chose the winner because he wants the loser to come work for him, that's how I'd do it.

i wasn't all that surprised with the outcome. Both chefs were pretty equal going in, winning almost the same number of challenges and neither of them really got yelled at too often.

i think danny's win was well deserved because not only did he have a better team...he commanded his kitchen much better. He was truly a better leader. i think paula is going to be a great chef and i was surprised that ramsay didn't offer her a job on the spot.

I don't know if it was because I'm hungover and sick and feeling sorry for myself, but parts of Danny's speech made me want to cry. Good for him. I think some of his comments are ridic but I think he did that stuff on purpose. I have a weird feeling that the producers tell them to boast a little during confessionals. Either that or every reality show contestant is an incredible narcissist.
