This is a fold.Even retarded minraise-players show up with the nuts or better hands every now and then. Which leads me to writing the following essay: He minraised pre-flop. This has become a widespread play in cash-games ever since DN's video about "smallballing" was available on youtube.Minraising preflop is mostly AJ at this level. Which is exactely why it sucks soooo hard as a preflop-play because the players seem to be under the impression that they can't put in a real raise with AJ but find limping to weak at the same time. Sometimes I have seen small pairs being played this way. -> But this mostly is done by dedicated donks at the next higher stakes who realize they need to mix up their play and find small or medium pocket pairs to weak to open raise. Anyhow... I think he filled up either on the turn or river and I also think he does not show up with bluffs on paired-/three-to-a-flush-boards often enough to make calling his overbet profitable. I watch him a little closer for a few orbits and take notes. I know this is "wayting for a better spot" and some players hate the concept...But let's get back to an alternative idea preflop and on the flop.It is just so intriguing to try and stack a minraiser with a hand that could flop a potential monster like a 35suited.But this is just not paying tribute to the "clever strategy" of the minraiser. He will never fully pay you unless he flops big himself.Just watch the video and think about it for a few seconds.I used to have two standard plays against preflop-minraisers at this particular level:a.) I toss out a hefty reraise (bet pot, perhaps even slightly bigger). And when they call and check, I toss out a potsized bet on almost any board unless its 2JJ.-> This takes down the pot 90% of the time on the flop and leads to villain hating himself for ever having watched DN's video about minraising or "smallballing" on utube.b.) I smooth-call his minraise. And on the flop I raise any bet from villain which is around 2/3s of the pot on almost any board unless the board is exactely AJJ or something. -> This takes down the pot 90% of the time. It also leads to villain hating himself for ever having watched DN's video about minraising or "smallballing" on utube. But still villain will feel quite clever because he is the "master" of the pokerverse who almost smallballed you and folded a hand to what must be a monster. So he must be a great player.Needless to say that I do both a.) and b.) with ANY two cards. You went for line b.) but either missed the mark on the flop ot were scared od the ace. I realize there the ace is scary and that it is not the ideal flop for you to bluff. But villain needs flip over his hands at some point in the hand and if he check/calls you will very likely have a good idea of you play on further streets.Observing players might notice what you are doing there. Because it's an obvious auto-pilot play against minraisers if you think about it for 10 seconds. But then again there are very very very few players capable of actually observing this at this level.... which is why, there is the potential to move up in the long run :-)Adversely you will realize some players who notoriouslyre-raise minraisers themselves and might just find some spots to exploit that habit too.Which is why I wrote "standard" in italics.Back to the topic.I fold what is "20th" nuts or someting here unless I have a note like "dumb-shoves river on dangerous looking boards with top-pair or trips".P.S.:I am not saying that Daniels vid is wrong or bad at all. It's just that players at 5c/10c cashgames overapply the concept to a level where it becomes just tooo exploitable.
