trussdude 0
I came out here in 92 on vacation and haven't left. The houses are on bigger lots and things are more spread out. I have hiking and biking trails a half a block from my house.I can have horses in my back yard (why anybody would want a horse in their backyard is beyond me)In the summer, it's light out at 5 AM.Golf courses are everywhere.I have made it to Vegas in 3.5 hours (I live at least 40 mins closer to Vegas than Nutz)It's the best time ever to buy a house in Phoenix. We have the Arizona Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!As Mark said, It's 78 degrees in January! Please come out here and buy a house. There is a lot of poker action at several indian casinos.Grass is not required.Spring Training! We also have the Suns, Diamondbacks, ASU and the Coyotes.3.5 hour drive to the beach in Rocky Point. The Lobster 0
I moved down here from Wisconsin in '99 and don't have any intention of leaving (for all the reasons everyone mentioned... weather, golf, nightlife, proximity to everywhere else, etc). For the price range you mentioned, you can get a ridic house these days (and I would know, I am a Realtor... so hit me up if you need any help or want a tour of the city the next time you are in town )As for poker, we are going to be opening this next year in Scottsdale which should be pimp - http://www.casinoaz.com/resort.aspSo yeah, move now. Potsie P 0
Cane,I used to live in Miami and live in Phoenix now. I've also lived in Chicago, St. Louis, DC, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and San Diego (with a small stopover in Amsterdam for 3 months, as well). I can say without a doubt I would not trade any of those places for Phoenix for all the reasons mentioned above and more. Overall, the benefits to cost ratio is unparalleled. Would love to have you join our PHX crew, too!-Pots

matchstix 0
Going in a month or so. Any card rooms in the area?Casino Arizona is the best one out here, they spread anywhere from 3-6 to 75-150 and a spread limit 5-150 game. Nice big room with a pretty good floor staff IMO. The Lobster 0
You can be my realtor in 2 years or so. Thanks. Will do. I actually had a Canadian client I worked with last year looking for some investment property down here, so I know how to deal with you Canucks. Going in a month or so. Any card rooms in the area? http://www.casinoaz.com/ Casino Arizona (on Indian Bend Rd) has the best card room down here. No NL down here though, only spread limit (along with mini-raise games of course).Living near ASU has to be extremely ++++++++++++++EV if you are even mildly attractive/have game/not afraid of women/like looking at hott women all the time.Totally. I actually had a Canadian client I worked with last year looking for some investment property down here, so I know how to deal with you Canucks. I do want to move down there eventually, but I'm stuck here in Canada for at least another year and a half, probably longer as my gf is lined up for a nice job after she's done school... eventually though, I need to get somewhere warm.In the meantime, with real estate prices so good, an investment property is definitely something I want to look into. A buddy of mine, and I each want to get into it at some point, and talked about Phoenix. I don't know anything about laws regarding owning foreign property, and I also know that there's a next to nothing chance that I qualify for a mortgage myself (no verifiable income), and he's currently between jobs (lol), but in the mid-future, we definitely will be looking into some sort of investment property. If things fall the right way, it could be 6-months, if they don't, it could be 3 years.I'm glad I know people out there, though, especially someone with experience in exactly what I want to do. TheCinciKid 0
This thread has me REALLY wanting to move to Arizona. I'm a big fan of desert climate too. Maybe after I get out of the Air Force I'll consider it as a good place to settle down.

Well, my clients ended up not buying a house because even though they found the house they wanted, it was right at the time when everything tanked in regards to loans and money being impossible to get, and foreign nationals were being forced to put 30-40% down (which made it impossible for them to buy the 450k home they were looking at). I know guidelines have relaxed since then, although I really haven't looked too much into it recently, but obviously I can check into whatever you need me to, whenever you need it.I've seen the pics. I'm not surprised.GFY!

Balloon guy 158
Turn on the AC in May, turn off in oct. What good is a pool if the water is 95 degrees? Been there, done that, no thx.Need to thin out your blood.During the height of summer we have the AC set to 78, sometimes we feel the need to bump it down to 77, but only for a little bit since that is a little too cold. The AC in my car was on yesterday, since it's still in the 70s here.I'm not sure if my heater has been on for more than one day so far this year, and that only for a day at most. And most of the golf I play is in the summer, after noon. If it wasn't for the heat, Palm Springs would be Los Angeles because we have 340+ days of pure sunshine a year. You can watch the Bob Hope Classic golf tournament on the golf channel to see what the weather is like here now. but be warned you Canadians, the sunshine and half the crowds wearing shorts may cause you to lose some of your niceness for a moment.
