The Official Obama Scorecard Thread

Recommended Posts

I love your mom. Hope you sent her a balloon bouquet for Mother's Day. I was curious to see what you and/or Brv thought about the article posted in "Stevens SCOTUS Replacement Thread," noting that if Kagan is confirmed, the court will no longer have a single Protestant on it.
Of course the need for a true cross section of America never seems to come into play for any of the 'rights' characteristics. This country gets what it deserves, because we got to vote on it.

President Obama ordered the cabinet to cut $100,000,000.00 ($100 million) from the $3,500,000,000,000.00 ($3.5 trillion) federal budget.   I'm so impressed by this sacrifice that I have decided to

I'm confused (legitimately, not sarcastically). Do you disapprove of Scalia, Roberts, or Alito as over-representing the Roman Catholic population?

Yes, yes, the stunning lack of WASPs in positions of power in the American government is incredible. (snide sarcastic lawyer voice)really? Also, you will like Kagan a lot more than Stevens. Do you hear a lot of GOP angst about Kagan? It's because she is much more partial to conservative thought than Stevens was. Democrats pick women for a reason and it is a practical one. they need their votes and they tend to be more liberal on social issues.

Side bet on this? She is an unqualified woman who is getting this job because another unqualified person wants to give her a chance. On the Supreme court.Because entry level positions shouldn't always be on the bottom.

No, there should be a large cross section of catholics because that is a large make up of the country, the other half of the country is protestant though. There should be one young half black half indian lady named Sanchez who has aids and cross dresses while she refuses to shower and eats only insects that have died from natural causes. The rest of the court should be men. Half protestant, the other half hard core fundamentalist Christians. One of them should be a converted Jew.That would make a great Supreme Court.

There have been times when a majority of the Supreme Court were people who were not originally judges. I think it is very important to have at least one member of the court who did not come up through the standard procedure. Her views on executive power are not mine....but she is anything but unqualified.

As someone who didn't vote for obama, you aren't going to convince bg that she is qualified. Hell, he probably thinks sarah palin would be a better pick.

I'm less interested in convincing him and more interested in people knowing that some of what he is saying makes no sense given our country's history. Some of our best justices were never judges until they were supreme court justices. It's not unprecedented....it used to be normal. I applaud Obama for bringing it back....every current justice has the exact same resume (seriously look it up.....they are all eerily similar).....it's best to have some people who went a different route helping make these decisions.

But he did vote for Obama.
As someone who has pigeonholed me with a broad brush that cannot be undone, you would have a better chance convincing him that I have stopped critically thinking and instead am now a buyer in the theory of evolution.

See, this argument is fine, as long as you leave her out. But when you put her in, then you lose the ability to talk about how it's okay to look for non-judges etc.She has a willing media trying to sell the notion that "Oh look, this woman might make the court lean right"Yea, cause the left has such a good track record of accidentally picking people who are closet conservatives. The fact that she is getting the coverage she is getting, coverage that implies that "Look out, this woman might be a little more right than we want" " Wow, Obama went with a dangerous pick here, why she's almost Right of Board" "Did anyone notice that she kills babyseals with democrat hopes?"Then I know for a fact, she is a radical leftist who will do nothing but push her agenda down America's throat. Their desire to smokescreen her this fast and this blatant makes me cringe. But yea, I am not saying that only judges can be on the Supreme Court.I mean Biden's name was tossed around for a while there wasn't it? ( another smoke screen, 'oh Biden's too controversial for you, then we are stuck going with our second pick: Karl Marx')The

I thought her name was Kahel at first, and did a google search and found her facebook. She was hot, but her friends make me think she would have a problem getting confirmed.

lol. I just give you crap because you remind me so much of my old man, and he'd kick my ass for talking shit about him listening to rush or if I'd try to argue to for drug legalization. He's old school, like you. I mean no disrespect. I agree with some of what you say, and you are hugely entertaining in the way you debate here.I think your religion posts are my favorite.Carry on.

Pretty sure we are all happy with the way the last set of Harvard and Yale graduates ran the war in Vietnam...so what's to worry?

Sorry:
BOSTON — In a widely circulated 2003 memo, Harvard Law School dean Elena Kagan blasted the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy for gay soldiers as "a moral injustice of the first order."Kagan was explaining to students and faculty why military recruiters were allowed on campus again after almost 25 years of being banned from the law school's main recruitment office. She said that under a federal law known as the Solomon Amendment, the university risked jeopardizing hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding unless the school helped recruiters. The law allows the government to deny federal grants to schools that prohibit military recruitment on campus. The following year, after a federal appeals court struck down the law as unconstitutional, Kagan re-imposed a ban on recruiters
She's a far left liberal college idiot who doesn't understand that socialism is failing around the world because it is a bad idea.So when she wrote the evils that would happen if socialism fails, she is showing her true college communist sympathizer professor colors.
(May 10) -- One of the few potentially compromising documents authored by Elena Kagan had nothing to do with law or any legal decisions. As an undergraduate history major at Princeton University in 1981, Kagan submitted a 156-page senior thesis titled "To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933."According to The New York Times, "the paper examines why, despite the rise of the labor movement, the Socialist Party lost political traction in the United States -- a loss that she attributed to fissures and feuding within the movement. 'The story is a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism's decline, still wish to change America,' she wrote." The paper also reports that the thesis was dedicated to her brother Marc, who she said had "involvement in radical causes."
you sound like you are buying the story that the Obama people ( Rahm ) sent out before they announced her name to the public to smooth the rails for her easy nomination. The fact that they know they have to trick her way in shows that they know who she is.

I'll bet when Bob McDonnell's undergrad thesis hit the news, BG joined with the rest of the right to say that McDonnell had changed his views since and that the thesis shouldn't be big news or held against him. McDonnell's thesis contained gems such as:

  • contraceptives should be illegal, because non-marital sex is a crime (i.e., fornication)
  • government policy should penalize cohabitors, homosexuals, and fornicators
  • "once differential tax rates and benefit distributions are accepted in principle, there is but an arbitrary legislative line that inhibits the slide to socialism"
  • refers to "the perverted notion that each individual should be able to live out his sexual life in any way he chooses without interference from the state" [just another small-government freedom-loving Republican]

Kagen, whose thesis as quoted above says nothing more explosive than "sad," was 21 when she wrote. McDonnell was 34 and within a couple years of his first elected office.

That's fine by me. I don't care about people's religious beliefs at all. (when it comes to politics)

Democrat handbookPage 4 When ever you find yourself having to defend a wacked out nut case, just switch the attention to some obscure person from the republican party. If no person can be found, make up a person, because many of our followers need reassurance.Never ever stick to the subject in question: Deflect Deflect Deflect.2009 revision: Palin is an obvious choice for most deflection needs, Bush can still be used as a back up.

Republican handbook, page 3:Dig as far back as necessary to find dirt. If opposition does the same thing to you and finds something 20x crazier, denounce the opposition. It's all a never-ending dance and we're tangoing, baby, roses between the teeth. You're an excellent dancer.
