When asked about his Toronto tenure, Burke had to pause so he doesnt say something controversial

Basically said, the "mess" that he had to clear out , took longer than he liked...Too many tough immovable players..

Also said he would do the Kessel trade tomorrow, but the draft pick compensation was a lot higher than he had projected.

GO BURKE

When Brian Burke took the job in Calgary he promised he take a backseat role, not get in front of the media so much..Last a couple of week until this beauty on Flames player Sven Baertschi

He was asked a simple question, where he replied:

There are three zones in the ice surfaces in this league. I don’t see that he’s learned to play and compete in two of them. He’s got to learn there’s a clock in this league and there’s so many minutes in the game and that you’ve got to compete through all of it. I see this is a guy who’s focusing on one area [scoring] and even then, sporadically,” Burke said. “So I don’t know what we have.

“I’m not ready to quit on a young kid. I’m not ready to throw him under the bus here today and rip him, but I think you can tell from my comments that I see big holes and I see a lack of commitment that’s not going to get him anywhere in my books.”

Holy crap...that's a pretty damning statement coming out of the front office. Especially about a kid who has been praised for his on-ice work ethic at every single level of development up to this point.

Its vintage Burke..I am thinking he has an agenda, wants to light a fire under him and get the kid going..Why else make a statement like that..If you dont like him trade him, but dont tell the whole NHL, look we have a kid who is useless..Want him?

Yeah, but it could have the complete opposite effect of making the kid hate the jersey he has to put on everyday. You know, more than usual for a Flames player.

It was kinda of sad, seeing Brian Burke at the ACC in one of the boxes watching the Leafs beat the Sens.

It was like, I suffered with the rebuild/retooling and I am not here to enjoy the success...

Burke built a great core of players through trade and good draft..But Nonis's addition this summer are proving to be fruitful...

Raymond, Bolland, Bernier are looking to be great so far.

AND we havent seen Clarkson in a game yet.
