Piddle Duck 0
I will attest I am not fully knowledgable on all things hockey and especially how to be a GM (the FCHL people can attest to that) but this deal looks like poop to me. Why give up a pick for a what 37 38 year old guy who will play like what 10 min a game if he even dresses?
ajs510 122
Why give up a pick for a what 37 38 year old guy who will play like what 10 min a game if he even dresses?Because it's Toronto, that's kinda what they do.
serge 904
with all due respect to Adam and his clouded perception of reality, I will try and explain the move...People who follow this team(ME) see night in and night out one thing that is lacking...Leadership , toughness and grit...This is what Brad May brings to the team..Its not a long term move, its a move to help the young guys realize that this team has to show emotion , especially at the start of hockey games..The Leafs dont usually show up to play until after they are down 2 goals, and its usually too late..He costs basically nothing salary wise, a 2010 CONDITIONAL 6th round pick isnt exactly giving up a lot..Good move by burkie...I like to see Gruven's remarks...http://tsn.ca/other_sports/story/?id=26227...yourcallarticle
WhiteSpade 0
will play like what 10 min a game if he even dresses?I think that would be a lot of ice time for him.People who follow this team(ME) see night in and night out one thing that is lacking...Leadership , toughness and grit...This is what Brad May brings to the team..Its not a long term move, its a move to help the young guys realize that this team has to show emotion , especially at the start of hockey games..The Leafs dont usually show up to play until after they are down 2 goals, and its usually too late..He costs basically nothing salary wise, a 2010 CONDITIONAL 6th round pick isnt exactly giving up a lot..Good move by burkie...http://tsn.ca/other_sports/story/?id=26227...yourcallarticle I agree. ajs510 122
I just hope he scores the next time Toronto plays Buffalo, so Rick can dust off the old "MAY DAY!!!MAY DAY!!! MAY DAY!!!" call one last time.

Piddle Duck 0
Don't you think it says something that a team like the Leafs who seem to have many large big players need May to bring in grit and toughness?

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
IF Brad May is the type of player that will show grit in the room and help the young players develop, than this is a good move. And if he plays hard on the ice, and shows effort, and gets the young guys to feel like they have someone sticking up for them, and gives them some room to play+develop, then again, good move. More importantly, if he ends the ridiculous pattern of Luke Schenn being the only player to stick up for his teammates and fight the other teams tough guys....then this is a great move. gruven 530
I love Brad May. Good guy, and we've been friends for a long time. He's character guy, and I'm thrilled to see him come to Toronto. That being said, I think giving up a draft pick for a fourth line fighter, who is getting too old to fight, is counterproductive to building a future team. I believe he brings something to the dressing room, but I don't know if it's worth ANY draft pick. Trade a minor leaguer who's not in your plans.

Trade a minor leaguer who's not in your plans.I understand your thinking, but couldn't you just as easily move that same "minor leaguer not in your plans" for a draft pick as well, possible higher than a 6th? I think the pick is easy to get back.
