I couldn't disagree more. The casual poker fan knows Phil Ivey. There's going to be in excess of $10m thrown around potentially. Goofs on this forum were downloading FCP left and right when DN was playing Dreamclown for chrisakes. I feel like it is extremely nieve to think Full Tilt isn't going to benefit substantially from this. Not to mention the amount of people who will rail and then open another window and play when they otherwise wouldn't have.

How are these people going to know about it? This info is out there because of poker forums, poker mags, poker radio. I would argue that 99% of the people who use these things are already playing online.

Exactly, the people who were downloading FCP were already on the forum and already played poker. How many people on 2+2 do you think don't have Full Tilt on their desktops?People who don't even have Full Tilt are not going to be that interested in railing a PLO game where they can't even see the cards. Again, all the publicity garnered is with people who already know what Full Tilt is.

Word of mouth is the most powerful advertising/marketing form that there is.Random fish that has been to cardplayer.com: You've seen Phil Ivey on TV, right?Random fish 2: Ya man, he's super sick!1 eleven!!!RFCP.com: Well he's going to play some young internet pro HU4ROLLZ on FULLTILTPOKER.COM!!!!!!!!!!!1111!! ELVELn!RF2: ZOMGZOMGONOELEVEN11!!!1!!!!then RF2 tells RF3,4,5. They each tell 3 people, and it balloons exponentially.

Also, like I said, it's not just in new downloads. This will lead to more people playing. I may go on and rail this match for awhile and, inevitably I'm going to get the itch to open my own window when I might have just decided to watch CSI:Miami if not for this match. There are constantly new posts on here about which is the best site to play at,etc. It would seem to me this matchup of ~$10m gives them at lease some credibility, right?(the $10m figure is just a crude estimate as to what might take place.)

Obviously and while it may attract some I'd say by far the vast majority of people who "tune" in for this will be people who are actively involved in the online poker community. This has next to nothing to do with being a marketing ploy as some have speculated and has almost everything to do with gamblers looking for a gamble.

I agree with you in the fact that this isn't a marketing ploy. I don't think Full Tilt "staged" this or anything, but I do believe they stand to reap some of the collateral benefits.

Then RF2 goes: Wait a sec, why on earth would Joe Smo want to watch an online poker game that I don't understand between people I don't know and without being able to see their cards or listen to Norman Chad? I think i'll stick with WSOP re-runs thank you very much.

So the general consensus is that Dwan would, effectively, spot a million to anyone in the world 4 tables heads up?If so he's either mega-rich or stupid. There has to be something else involved.
Again, no.

i did the math. if durrrr is a 3ptbb favorite it would mean that his expectation is about 1.2million, which is more than the juice he's giving up. i would guess that he must figure he's somewhere around there.

He cannot have enough money to accept 3 of these challenges. Thats 4.5 mill escrowed right off the top and he could lose upwards of ten mill in each one.
Regardless of how much money he has, presumably he will accept them 1 at a time, and revoke his challenge if he goes broke.
