OK, so I'm starting with $10 and playing ring game NL hold'em online at PokerStars. A few rules:1. I won't move up in limits unless I have 500 big blinds for that limit. I'm starting at $0.01-$0.02 w

www.cardschat.com is a great place for information (responding to last post)Damn Daniel, you crash and burned... I finally cashed out on PStars cause my roommate moved out no notice so I was able to grind $10 up to $648 using your strategies... sucks that I couldn't continue on and that my roommate was a POS. So now I am doing the Ferguson Challenge on Full Tilt... already up to $376 and started March 24th from absolutely $0.Well, hope you can get it together and get your BR up... you just crashed and burned tho when you moved up that one limit.Best of luck KidPoker,Moe

Hi,Where is this challenge at? Couldn't find any recent progress report. Would be nice to have a graph that showed the ups and downs after each session. So if you have links share them please.EDIT Begin:The reason I'm asking about the progress, is I saw one of the poster was putting up Graphs, and that is much easier to follow than the first post. So I'm offering to hook you up with an Easy way for you to create those graphs on your own, and have them automatically displayed on a web page. If you are interested contact me off line, and I can provide you with a link to a sample of what I mean.End:Regards from a fella CANUCK.Bozz

I just stumbled across this thread when reseaching my own challenge. Not quite as ambitious as Daniel, but I'm attempting something similar. I aim to make $10,000 profit starting with just a $40 bankroll, playing micro stakes cash games of No Limit Hold 'Em online. I'm blogging about the whole experience and hoping to learn along the way.I'm going for a 2000BB strategy at each stake level, as opposed to Daniels 500BB attempt, more details here.Anyone know the latest? has he busted out?

Yeah, against all odds and prediction the challenge has gone the way of PokerVT and the Charter Member Program.

Charter Member really ? Since that was part of the FCP cardroom and there is no longer an FCP cardroom WTF do you expect.Daniel is still playing sessions as part of the challenge. He's played very little online over the last 6 weeks or so but about half his cash sessions in that time have been low limit as part of the challenge. My guess is that he'll play here and there and the challenge will never die unless his challenge bankroll goes down to zero.

Updated in original thread guys
Why not lift the restriction of only playing the full ring games, and at least also include playing 6-handed?A good deal of players play solidly preflop in full ring games at those levels (.25/.50, .50/1); and since they play fewer hands, they have easier decisions to make post-flop.Playing 6-handed, they are forced to play a wider range of hands, there is more post-flop action, more mistakes to profit from, and also them being involved in more hands means that you can pick up on their tendencies quicker.

Sup, Daniel. Tell me plz, what's your bankroll now? And what's your strategy(mega-ultra agressive / unbelievable tight) about this challenge "$10 Into $100,000"?

Playing now
any chance this plays out differently if you're not you? I mean, 128 players waiting in line is kinda insane. And I'd think you'd get a lot looser players who want to play against a famous pro. Wish I could watch you play against typical competition...though I know that's unrealistic.I don't know if you can see the observer chat, but it's kind of insane too.

Like 95 percent of the people who are on this forum I truly enjoy watching Daniel play WPT and WSOP, like reading his blog and feel he is good for the game of poker in a way many high stakes pros are not. Having said this, it cracks me up to think about this so-called "challenge". Since it is meaningless to Daniel in terms of making a difference in his finances it really doesn't symbolize anything close to what most micro-limit players experience. It is a nice PR thing for Poker Stars and I believe he is sincere about it, but if you gave the average low limit grinder 10 grand (not even 100k) it would absolutely change their life. That, in my opinion, is the trouble with putting any money on any online site - unless you have several thousand dollars to invest, it is mostly a crapshoot - at the lowest limits the rake is truly a stronger opponent than your actual opponents. People do succeed but I am guessing it is like 1 in 10. Personally, I have won over 1000 dollars in a year of doing HORSE and PLO freerolls on Full Tilt but have been one and two outed out of 400 of that 1000. I guess if I ever get over 1500 I will play cash again, but only limit Hold Em. My honest recommendation to 90 percent of the population is to use online poker only as a training tool - i.e. to learn different games or try out more aggressive tournament strategies - People do well online but twice as many people lose more than they can afford to. It is like trying to be a professional athlete - those 3 percent who actually make it live a great life but it is an unrealistic goal for most and none of the sites or pros who represent them do a responsible job of portraying these long odds.

You sound very negative!I'm sure this challenge is NOT meaningless to Daniel. Financially yes, but I'm sure he gets great satisfaction, like most poker players, in achieving his goals. No matter how large or small.I’m aiming to achieve something similar, a true challenge (without the 100+ waiting list and have-a-go heros!). Even if Daniel doesn’t need to prove himself at micro stakes, I’m sure he feels the same satisfaction I do, with a nice consistant positive profit graph!

That's cool 10k hero, I wish you good luck! My point is that for someone like you, there is alot more meaning attached. For the record I like and admire Daniel and love the game of poker, it has been very good to me. Obviously, I like and trust live poker much more than online. Even with that, the local cardroom I play at which is less than 5 minutes from home, has lost alot of it's regular players in the last few months, so I have to drive an extra hour to the local casino for a regular game. Poker is a great game but the average player is just not talented enough to turn a long term profit and should view it as a form of entertainement. In the last 10 years I have played regularly in Florida and Michigan in Hold em and Omaha hi lo games at least 4 days a week - in those games I am the biggest winner by far but I have only seen 5 or 6 others who I believe to be consistent winners out of hundreds of people. Even when it hurts my bankroll, if a fellow player asks me for advice I will tell them to cut down on how often they play and find other hobbies if they are a losing player -- again good luck to you with your goals.
