I have been a member of FCP for a while and have really learned alot from the strat forums as well as gotten many good laughs as well. I think that most FCPers are nice people who are generally trying to help others and continue to get better at the game along with sharing stories of their success. While others are here to just poke fun at people and flame which is all good since this is the internet.OK, here is the deal. I have been playing this game for 5 years, with varied success. I have always been able to make small profits, but nothing major to make playing even remotely worth my while. I am a competitive person, so I can't just "play for fun". Well, I have come to a point in my journey where I have explored every possible avenue to try and figure out what's going on. Am I just unlucky? Am I a bad player? What do I need to do to turn these small profits into big gains? I'm tired of my bankroll being on a treadmill I'm ready to either have a nice score or hit the road! I have put in time and dedication into improving my game and plugging leaks, but the poker gods continuously slap me in the face and then knee me in the nuts. I know bad runs happen to us all and to take a break when you need to, but I have been there and done that many times only to come back to the same stuff. I WISH I HAD SOMEONE(PROVEN) TO SWEAT ME WHILE I'M PLAYING SO I CAN FIND OUT IF I'M A GOOD PLAYER WHO RUNS BAD, OR JUST A DONKEY WHO THINKS HE CAN PLAY! I know I probably need a program to turn my HH into videos but not sure where I could find this and if it wouldn't be easier just to have someone sweat me on AIM or YAHOO. I will accept all flames that come in this and probably laugh at them myself, but this is a serious proposal. If anyone would be interested please PM me and we can discuss everything. I :club: FCP and am prepared for the jokes that this post generates so fire away.

Cash or tournies? Time of day you usually play? Limits? I think those are probably some questions people would want to know.

If you are really serious and would like to be a well-rounded poker player (winner), I would strongly encourage you to sign up with Steve when he offers another class. (I would recommend Jamie, but he isn't taking any students right now). They give you many tools to use to make your play worth-while. I know it has really helped me. It can also help you find which game is your best fit.

I don't think he's looking for someone like Steve right now. I'm assuming he's looking for something lower stakes. If you are looking for proven instruction you can ask GrinderMJ about instruction, not free though.

If you group it by 2 possibilities. 1 - you suck or 2 - you're unlucky.. think of it this way.are ivey, negreanu, durrr, mortenson, and even the well known FCP'ers all among the luckiest people in the world?i think we can all agree there is no such thing as luck. Only short term variance which eventually evens itself out. So if there is no such thing as luck.. i think you'll find your answer

That's why someone like Jamie would be good. He works with all level stakes. But right now he does not have time to take new students. (I think our group wore him out - lol). Not familiar with GrinderMJ's instruction, but sounds like he would be a good fit too.

I play mainly micro tournaments and sng's, mostly during the day with occasional night and all at micro's. Trying to practice good BR management and I'm making small gains but its just frustrating when if feels like your running in place.

I know the feeling. I only play recreationally but think any game worth playing (especially for money) is a game worth playing well. I've been playing micro SNGs and tournies for 3 years and am a "winning" player but my per hour (hell, my per year) rate would be considered laughable. I guess the fact that I haven't lost money overall and the fact that I've actually done pretty well in live tournies sort of prove that I'm a capable player, but I'm pretty sure I won't progress until I take the next steps of a) playing a lot more and 2) getting a coach. Alas, neither of these things are things I have the time or the money for. Thus, the same limbo it sounds like you're in. But good luck and definitely post or PM me if you find what you're looking for.

Winning at poker takes paying attention and hard work. You can't just pop into the forums every once in awhile and expect winning players to just take time out of their day to sweat you and tell you everything. You have to be willing to WORK, and if you want the perks like someone sweating you or a training site, be prepared to PAY. A random forum stranger isn't just going to do it. For the free stuff here...knowing what "ranges" and "fold equity" means and posting a few hands here and there does not make you a winning player and it doesn't mean you're unlucky if you haven't been. You need to pay attention to how winning players act and the things that they do, and ABSORB their knowledge. Know how to network yourself so you can have a give and take relationship with those winning players. Ask tons of questions and keep asking them even if you get ignored over, and over, and over again. Winning players will eventually see that you are serious, and slowly but surely you will start to get serious answers to your questions. Act mature and don't flame the wrong people for stupid reasons, but expect to get flamed yourself by those same people, and use common sense to judge your replies. Your post count doesn't matter. There are people with tens of thousands of posts here that suck at poker, and there are ones with only a few hundred that have a shitload of credibility. They are winning players for a reason...they use common sense, pay attention, network themselves, put in a ton of hours, and constantly think about the game, oh and not to mention while all this is happening, adjust to dozens of other constantly changing factors such as the evolution of the game.

Look at your poker tracker results or something similar. Are you losing a lot with a particular hand or class of hands? How are you doing by position? Do you have a negative result anywhere besides the blinds?
