Best Rewards Credit Card To Get?

Recommended Posts

After doing a little refinancing and restructuring I'm now officially credit card free although home equity heavy now, but thats beside the point.Have a good budget in place now and I've heard a lot about people using rewards cards to pay their bills with and pay off the rewards card each month just like its a debit card, but enjoy some extra benefits.I've been looking at the AmX Cash Blue card (Pros: no annual fee, pretty decent cash back options; Cons: Not every place accepts AmX) and the Southwest Visa Card (Pros: Would definitely get at least 1 free round trip flight per year, Cons: $60 annual fee, no actual cash back). There are a couple good websites out there that compare a lot of the reward cards. The standard is pretty much 1% cash back on anything and up to 5% cash back if you spend a certain amount or spend at certain places like gas stations, grocery stores, etc. Anyone have a good card they recommend? Figure if I can earn an $15 - $25/month doing the same things I'm doing now, but by using a rewards card then it's a good deal.

I don't know the details, I looked quickly at the Amex one, cause Brigette has the regular Blue card, and she uses points from that for things sometimes. Gift certificates, hotel stays, stuff like that. But never knew about the cash one.All that being said though, I'd go with whatever one you can get the lowest rate on.

Interest rate is not even a factor here, this card will never carry a monthly balance.
No interest, no payments, but you don't get mileage, that's the only downside.barack_obama_race_card.jpg

Rake back on your credit card?
Nice, never thought of it that way. I can't believe Kurt doesnt have a link in his signature with an option for me.

CitiCard ... sign up for the ThankYou rewards program..I pay no annual dues... no idea what the interest rate is...I always pay it off each month.I'm getting a Tom Tom for one of my cars this month. They have TONS of gifts and gift cards you can get. I usually opt for the Best Buy $50 gift card because you can always use one of those.

AMEX Blue has never given me any problems. SW card has benefits if you fly a ton.

I have a Blue Cash card and it's a good card. Most, if not all, of the airline cards have a hefty annual fee. I also love my Chase Freedom card. No annual fee, and 5% cash back on groceries, gas, and restaurants. Which covers almost all of my expenses... but just in case you buy something else.. you get 3% on that.EDIT: It appears I was able to sneak in before the financial collapse and now it's totally changed. http://www.chasefreedomnow.com/offer_details/

Went with the AmX Blue Cash Card.My my estimates we should earn a minimum of $300 and possibly as much as $800 per year in cash back base on what I will expect to spend on it.Free Money = g00d

just crossed the $300 cash back mark as of my July statement. Took from December - April to get to the $10K mark which is when the rates change from 0.5%/1.5% to 1.25%/5%. Looks like averaging about $70/month cash back right now at this level and it resets in December so thinking should be somewhere around $500 - $600 cash back for the year when all is said in done.Pretty good bargain for just using that card to buy stuff I was buying anyways.

12/02/2009 Wed YOUR ANNUAL CASH REWARD IS $554.02
That seems like a lot of credit card spending. I think the last reward I got was $60, but that was because I got a free $50 for signing up.

Heck, while you're at it, why don't you get two rewareds credit cards. You can pay all your bills with credit card A to get rewards, and then pay off credit card A with credit card B to get even more rewards. And why even stop there. You could then go back and pay off credit card B with credit card A, earning even more rewards! Do this infinitely many times and you'll pretty much be the richest man alive. GL.

Also, go to the casino specifically to play roulette. Bet on black every time. Every time you win, pocket that amount. If you lose, just double your bet until you win it back. How can that go wrong!?!

The first $6500 of each 'year' which is based on your signup date you get .5% on every thing you buy and 1% on like groceries, gas, drug stores, etc. After you reach $6500 you start getting 1.5% on everything and 5% on the groceries, gas, drugstores, etc. From Dec 08 - Dec 09 we spent $23,874.23 which earned us the $554.02 which is a net 2.3% total cash back.We never let it carry a balance and just used it for stuff we would normally use our debit card for.

Hmm, still seems like a lot. I'm going to need to see your tax returns, personal financial statements, and bank statements for the last three years.

I wonder if there is any roulette or blackjack game that has ever been played without a cap? Martingale is a genius idea if wasnt for the damn cap
