I only read the first page or two and I cant believe the beating Steve is taking.. Steve was here before all of us, and is a friend of Daniels. I actually just took FCP off of my " home" page about a month ago for the first time since ive been reading FCP. The content isnt the same( and all I read is gen., occasionally ill drop in on Strat) but my posting numbers are down alot...Ive met alot of cool people here that I would trust with every dime I own, so im thankful for that. But I remember when there was tons of posts with actual content, now the content is staking posts ( which are awful long term for fcp, because it brings a nasty breed of people to the forums) retarded drunk threads, funny inside jokes that no one but a select few understand, and wells that provide really no knowledge.. Like the RDOG thread, Me and RDOG have butted heads a few times, but he has grinded for a living for a few years.. and there is ALOT that we can all learn from someone like that.. escpecially someone that is older and has been around the block a few more times.. its really sad, I used to enjoy coming here but now it seems like there is no new content ever to read, and its just the same stuff over and over.

You must remember, Steve started this thread. It's an OP which is pure criticism of FCP... so, if everyone agreed with him this would be post after post, page after page of dissenting voices all criticising the forum. This would make zero sense, as people would only be criticising themselves (it's their choice to come here after all). What exactly is it you want people to say here?? In fact, if you read on, Steve himself has taken a balanced approach to any criticism of his OP, and admits that maybe they're right to suggest that he doesn't contribute much these days.That is in response to the highlighted portion. The rest of your post, I agree with... and it's good to hear that you've made good friends from FCP, but you can't be immune to (constructive) criticism just because you were here before everyone else, in my opinion.

I respect TJ a ton and his results do his talking for him. That said, him leaving the forum doesn't indicate that the content is dwindling. It could be that people get sick of the flames, like BKIce, but that comes with chatting on the Internet. People like FCP for a variety of reasons, but the community feel is a primary one. The content has never been strong across the board. But it is entertaining. TJ is around often enough I would scarcely say he is bored with the forum now. I still don't see the save for you here Steve. Everyone seems to think the forum is okay that is here except for you, Vick and TJ. TJ would be a huge loss, you would too but I have already voiced my thoughts on your main contributions now, and Vick isn't going anywhere (just read his post count, like mine, it is telling, and he will be here for a while).

I think that is part of the natural cycle of things. Several people have started here, turned pro/MM/moved to vegas, and don't spend as much time here any more. I'm sure several people who are here now will follow this path. I don't think it's indicative of a problem with the forum.It makes sense for this kind of place to be more of an entry point than an endpoint in people's poker careers. Once people get more serious about poker, they tend to develop relationships outside of the forum and cultivate those. Seems natural to me.

I don't read the those threads (not because they aren't valuable tools, but because I've developed a somewhat unusual style that wins and I couldn't contribute to or benefit from them, given that they're prone to only discussing basic, ABC type poker orthodoxy), but if this is true, it's shameful and mods should've put the kibosh on it immediately. I will make fun of anyone for anything (including race, gender, sexual orientation, weight, handicap, lifestyle choices, looks, personal history of background, etc) but one thing I wouldn't ever do is come onto a poker forum and deride beginners trying to learn. We were all beginners once; people need to be more gentle with that sort of thing. The General Discussion forum is the wild west, but mods cannot let this sort of shit go on in the poker forums. It's hugely corrosive to the dynamics of the site.

I actually think the forum has got a lot better since I joined. It is a great mix of poker content along with non-poker stuff.Just because a lot of the better poker players have left or only post frequently doesn't mean that FCP is worst off.Also, I've read a lot of hate for the stake threads in here. A lot of the time it isn't about broke players being desperate for a stake. It is just an opportunity for a group of 5, 6, or more FCP'ers to barrage a tourney and have fun. Threads like that make me feel a part of the FCP community, I don't see them as negative at all.

I <3 FCP.I joined because none of my friends like poker and wanted have discussions and analysis with other poker lovers and the fact that its so easy to be on FCP while playing poker at the same time is great. a couple years have passed and I still play poker quite a bit but I feel that discussing poker and really getting into analysing every aspect of it isnt something that makes me happy and when poker becomes to much like a chore I dont want to play anymore. I still want to improve but I much rather be playing than going over hand histories and analysing them to death. So nowadays I spend about 80% of my time at FCP in places other than genpo. There is a great poker community here and lots of cool people. I always find myself genuinely happy for people from here who I have never met when they have success playing poker and in life in general. Long live FCP.
